Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
Got this quote from a travel agent (friends mother)The Radisson Resort is a beautiful hotel that was recently refurbished. A deluxe ocean pool view room (the best room with either a balcony or patio) with American Airlines non stop flights from JFK for Sept 14-20 would be $1742.65pp and for Sept 14-21 would be $1919.65pp, this would include your round trip air, hotel and hotel taxes. In Aruba, I do not recommed transfers from the airport because your stop at every hotel along the way to drop off people and they charge $18.pp round trip for this pleasure. For approx. $25.00 each way you can take a cab from the airport directly to the hotel, money well spent.
I can also book the Jeep, at a discount, once you decide how many days you want it for and what days you want it.
I was thinking we might want the jeep the whole time there.....any thoughts?????

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
You ladies are funny.Yes Jodi that sounds like a good price.
And DEFINATELY rent a jeep! It is so fun to tour the island with at your own pace & more romantic than jeep tours.
edited to say i looked at prices from In & Out Travel I got on the Radisson and it was like $120 cheaper pp. It's up to you though.
And rent a jeep AT the airport, call before you go to reserve one.

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
We stayed at the Radisson in November on our honeymoon and flew Continental- non-stop out of Newark. We paid $3500 for the both of us. We had the ocean/pool room as well, it also included buffet breakfast every day, and a $200 food and beverage credit at the hotel. We also stayed 9 days 8 nights. Make sure to request the Aruba Tower. Please feel free to forum mail me with any questions.Edited to say we did not rent a car, just cabbed it. We did the jeep tour of the island, and that was enough for us. But, go for it if that is what you want to do! They look like fun!

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
Thanks Jenn!Definitely rent a jeep the entire week, Jenn recommended that to us and I was sooo glad we did. On those hot days (sure they have trade winds but it still is muggy), I did not want to be waiting for a cab or the bus. And like Jenn said, so much easier to get around at your own pace if you wanted to get up and go, not expensive and definitely worth it!

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
Ok her is another price quote & sorry it is so longAir on American Airlines
Sept. 14th Leaving JFK at 7:10 AM arriving in Aruba at 1:29 PM. There is a one hour layover in San Juan.
Sept.20th Leaving Aruba at 5:04 PM and arriving in JFK at 9:49 PM.
The rate per person is $679.00.
The only direct flight wouldn't get us there until 5pm. ;-(
Sept. 14th to Sept. 20th.
The Wyndham All-Inclusive in an ocean view with a balcony $1,104.00 per person plus the air of $679.00 per person
The WYndham European Plan no meals in an ocean view with a balcony is $526.00 per person plus the air of $679.00
per person.
The Radisson Aruba in an Ocean View room with a balcony with a full American breakfast each morning is
$1,144.00 per person plus the air of $679.00 per person.
The Radisson Aruba in an Ocean View room with a balcony and no breakfast included is $1,081.00 per person
plus the air of $679.00 per person.
The jeep rental is $495.00 per person for the period Sept.14th to Sept. 20th.
This sounds outrageous! Why per person?
The Aruba Gastronomic Association program is as follows:
3 dinners$109.00 per person
5 dinners $177.00 per person
7 dinners $245.00 per person
5 breakfasts or lunches plus 4 dinners is $214.00 per person.
Any thoughts on these????
I need all the help I can get. I have never planned a big trip like this.

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
I think that the direct flights are better, especially coming home. Every time I take a connector flight out of Aruba, I miss my connector, b/c they didn't take off on time. They are slow down there. We used Travel Plus as our travel agent (they are in NJ) but she got us all the add ons. Forum mail me if you would like their phone # they might be able to help you.
Also, I don't know what the rooms look like at the Wyndham, but the grounds at the Radisson, in my opinion, were nicer, as was the pool. I also liked the beach at the Radisson better, the sand seemed nicer. But, I have never stayed at the Wyndham, so I can't give you a real comparison. Only what I saw based on walking through.
I also would not do any kind of all inclusive in Aruba, b/c the restaurants are too good to pass up.
Edited to ask- are you getting your own airfare? It doesn't seem like you are quoting packages.

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
Kris,Flight going to Aruba was the only one with the layover not coming home. The price on the flight was through the travel agent. The first travel agent quote was including the airfare.

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
Oh, ok. Well, the prices seem fair, however, but I would see if you can get free breakfast or something. Again, let me know if you want the # for the travel agent we used. It might be worth the phone call, ya know?

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
Which travel agent did you use? Direct flights are the only way to go, IMOAs for the Wyndham, this is where I booked my honeymoon. I have never stayed there before but I was in their lobby & casino & I liked it. My friend stayed there & loved it.
The Radisson is my favorite down there but the price I got at the Wyndham can't be beat.
All inclusive inn Aruba, I don't recomment, too many great places to eat! Aruba is a safe Island where you can go all over day or night, therefore, go eat at different places, you'd be missing out if you didn't (El Gaucho's, Flying Fishbone etc)

Re: Aruba Honeymoon - Is this a good price?
The first qoute I got from a friends mother who is a travel agent in NJ the second was from In & Out Travel.I know I have heard so muc about the great places to eat so I was thinking more about not doing the all inclusive.
Edited to say a Direct flight would be great but the only one available wouldn't get us there until 5pm
