DIY Water Bottle Labels - worried about smudging? UPDATED

Hi Ladies,
If any of you did your own bottle labels, how did they hold up? I know many people do them on plain paper or sticker paper, but I am worried about the ink smudging when they get wet.

I do have the website that sells the waterproof labels. I just wanted to see if anyone had tips or tricks to share using regular paper, before I order!
TIA!!
Meg

UPDATE
I printed my test labels on regular paper, one sheet on an inkjet printer and an identical sheet with a laser printer. I put one label of each on a bottle at room temperature and put it in the fridge overnight. This morning I set them out on the counter and waited to see what would happen. Neither bottle seemed to 'sweat' so both bottles looked great. I then put them in the freezer an hour and took them out to come to room temp. Same results..no sweating no smudging. My last attempt to 'smudge' the ink was to put each bottle in an ice-bath about half way up the bottles. They have been sitting on the counter for a few hours and still look perfect! I guess as long as the labels do not physically touch water they should be ok! Hope this helps anyone else who was concerned the ink would run or smudge!

'09er crashing - i do all the personalized stuff as a little side business. Theres no problem with using regular paper or glossy brochure paper as long as you dont submerge the bottles in ice. The ink will run if they are in ice. You can refrigerate them, but you cant keep them in a tub of ice.

Here's a site for waterproof paper if that comes out cheaper for you. You can get 5 water bottle labels on a page. Then use a paper cutter to cut them out, and attached with double sided tape!

Re: DIY Water Bottle Labels - worried about smudging?

I did them on regular paper and printed them on a regular printer. I didn't wet the bottles but I did test it out by putting one of the bottles in the fridge over night and the label held up perfectly.

I tried using funky waterproof paper with a regular printer and that smudged right away.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! I was concerned mostly that the bottles would 'sweat' and the ink would smear. I wonder how laser printer on regular paper would hold up compared to ink jet printer on regular paper. Will have to experiment too!

Re: DIY Water Bottle Labels - worried about smudging?

I printed my labels on regular paper and had them served at room temperature at our wedding, they were not submerged in water or put in a refrigerator and they were fine.
