Invitiation Question...Opinions Needed..

OK..What is your opinion on black&white invitations vs. invites with some color?

I posted today that we got our invitations last night. We were deciding between 2. One was velum (sp?) with two hearts and black writing. The other was a lavender rose on the left side (top to bottom) on ecru paper with lavender writing (my color). Anyway after about 3 hours we agreed on the lavender rose (even though Ken wasn't 100% sure...he just wanted to go to bed)I thought it was different and very pretty.

Well, he calls me a little while agao to tell me that his pain in the a$$ mother made a face and said 'what - wedding invitations are supposed to be black and white NOT color- well needless to say this upset me.

What is you opinion on wedding invitations????

edited to say: I'm sure there would have been a comment no matter which invitation we chose UUUGGGGGGGGG!!

Betty, do you have an pics to show??? Black? Do you mean black ink or are these hearts in black as well? Are you having a lavender bridal color scheme?

Yes, black ink but silver hearts
Yes, the girls will prbably be in lilac and the flowers will be lilac and yellow

I think that you can get any color invite that you want. If you and your FH loved them, then don't worry what anyone else has to say. Besides, would they be sold in colors, if they really were only 'supposed to be' in black and white?! Don't second guess yourself, especially if she would have a comment no matter what. Why don't you post a picture? I'm sure they are beautiful! I love lavender!

I think I know the ones that you're talking about and they're beautiful!! Don't listen to anyone else! You need to do what you and Ken want. There is no way that you can make everybody happy.
