does this sound strange..?
I just called The Metropolitan Building in Queens to ask then if you need an apt to see the place, she said no. When i asked her for a quote she told me it's $150 per person no matter what day, month or hr. it is and i have to bring my own alcohol and cake. I think that's a lil strang, anyone else had this experience with Metro building or another hall.?

Re: does this sound strange..?
Just went on sunday! We needed an appt, and we met with Eileen. She said none of those things to us! I would have left! But, its a little small for us, but its nice. The walls and carpets are a little dirty, but i guess that wouldnt be seen at night, and the place is 20 yrs old. We got quoted $90 dollars pp, spring/summer, and $95 dollars pp fall/winter. Sat night was 140 pp minimum. Two more quotes, It was 7.50 pp to extend the cocktail hour and the reception each by a half an hour, It was 5 dollars pp to add another entree onto the menu.

Thanks, i guess the lady on the phone didn't know what she was talking about ,which makes me nervous if i were to book it, so i think i'm gonna scratch them of the list because i don't trust them.

$150pp and that doesn't include the cake or alcohol!! That does sound strange. I always say go with your gut, go someplace else if you're don't have a good feeling!

Re: does this sound strange..?
I would definitely question that. It shouldn't be $150 all year round. Maybe you can speak with someone else

Re: does this sound strange..?
its not a typical catering hall, not like most wedding places...its more of a space you rent but they do have a chef and do alot of events. Its kind of like if you had your wedding in a loft and had to bring in things yourself such as a caterer but here they have a chef they use so you just bring alcohol, BUT like i said other spaces you rent you would have to hire an outside caterer. They do transform the place amazingly and do some great things with the space.
BUT if you want something similar, its in the same area in LIC, queens. But again this is not a catering hall, its space that you rent basically. Some provide a chef others you have to hire a caterer. And these are open spaces so you also have to think about how you will decorate it. I would personally prefer this bc you can do so much but then again its alot more work and money many times. Good luck, these are 2 places i LOVED but we have too many guests and fh didnt want an open space and putting that much work into it lol, but doesnt matter bc it wasnt big enough
ANOTHER place is stage 6 which is an abigail kirsch location in brooklyn right by the water...so its all catered by abigail kirsch
when you look at the images click on the link that saw images of parties and events to see it set up

the foundry is amazing but out of my budget. I really do like the loft feel for a wedding but i think 150 per person is alot especially when u have to bring ure own alcohol and cake. I forget whether food was included or not. Usually places like that have a rental fee and then you have to rent or hire everyone else.

Ive heard something like this before. Is it like city owned? Because i know that my cousin a few years back considered hers in Gracy mansion (however you spell it) and because it was city owned you supply your own refreshments.... but have to pay for a cop to be there if there is alcahol....strange

If anyone uses them, they should make sure to get e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g in writing, just to avoid any drama later on. That's the last thing you need.edit: typo
