MOB/MOG Dresses - LONG
Our wedding is an 11 am Mass with reception to follow at 12:30 pm in September. I have a question about dresses for our Moms.My mother has short, spiky, kind of punky salt and pepper hair that is too short to updo (she uses BedHead styling wax to spike it if that helps you form a mental image). That being said, she wants to wear a tea-length silver, platinum or gray colored gown to bring out the silver in her hair (my mother is a character) that she will probably have made. FMIL is a tall blonde who is growing her hair out long enough to wear in an updo by September. Our colors are ivory and sage with silver accent.
All of this being said, what is a good compliment color for FMIL? She told me to let my Mom choose her color first and then she would choose the compliment. She looks good in lavender and dark blue, but I'm not sure those colors would go with my scheme. Maybe a sage color but I'm afraid it would not only wash her out, but make them too 'match-y' to our colors. Also, Mom is not comfortable wearing a floor length gown for a daytime wedding, but I think FMIL wants to, which is fine with me. Is it ok for them to wear different lengths?
Further to the above, can anyone send me any links to good MOB/MOG dresses or tell me of any good stores? They are both pretty clueless here. As am I. Links preferable to actual stores b.c my mohter lives in Texas. FMIL lives on LI.

I drove myself crazy with my MOB/MOG dresses!!! Don't sweat it and let them wear what they want!!! Two different dress lengths are just fine!

Re: MOB/MOG Dresses - LONG
I'm just started to go look with my FMIL and Mom for their dresses also. Honestly I do not care what they get as long as it isn't white/ivory or sage (my MOH dress). Anything else they want is fine with me. I want each of them to be comfortable and happy with what they wear : ). So in answer to your question I don't think different lengths matter or if their colors compliment each other : ). Good luck!!!!

Re: MOB/MOG Dresses - LONG
My mom found her dress at PM Boutique in Oceanside, they were amazing there and I highly recommend them. The woman worked w. my mom, listened to what she wanted and ended up bringing her the perfect dress in a beautiful color.edited to say that like the others here, I did not have a preference for what color or style my mom wore, I just wanted her to feel as beautiful in her dress as I do in mine!

All the mothers (my mother, stepmother, and FMIL) will be wearing different length dresses. I think the lavender may go nicely with your color scheme. However, if you're not too picky with colors, I would let your FMIL choose her color dress. Good luck!

Your mom sounds like she is going to look great. About the length of the dresses...doesn' t really matter. Your FMIL with blonde hair--some of my BM's are blonde and when they tried on sage and celedon dresses they looked great. I don't think there is anything wrong with her wearing ivory, there are mixed opinions out there about that. The bottom line is that you want her to look nice and be comfortable.LOLWelcome New Vendors
