Videographer, photographer and DJ.

Hi,
I was tasked with finding videographer, photographer and a DJ. I've been shopping around for the last, however I'm not sure where to start for the first two.

For our engagement we went with Satisfaction Guaranteed DJ, and they were amazing. I want to go back with them, however I want to shop around before I make the decision.

As for the first two, photographer and videographer, I'm clueless. Any tips, ideas, or anything to look out for would be very helpful!

I'm checking vendor section, however I would like to hear personal opinion and experience with whomever you had or having at your wedding.

Wedding is in July, so it's not much time.
Let me know.
Thnx.

Re: Videographer, photographer and DJ.

Wow...you have your work cut out for you!

Ok photo/video...some things to think about..do you both like standard posed shots, candid or photojournalistic (parts of pic colored parts b&w, or blurred, very artsy) That's #1. Look at the vendors on here and check out their work on their website. See what fits you. Meet with at least 4 photographers you'll be amazed on how different their packages are. Some questions: how many photographers (1 or 2), how many proofs, printed or digital proofs (some offer both which is the best deal), are the proofs marked (then you have to pay THEM for any copies-ripoff), see if you both like how they make their albums (they are all VERY different, some modern some traditional) how many albums do you get, do they photograph you both getting ready (if that's important to you). All of these things are really important to find out if your getting the best deal for your money.

I opted to get video from a seperate company. It was cheaper for me that way. For video: figure out what you both want. We are getting a 20 minute documentary style video. They put tic tac sized microphones on the bride and groom and use the voice feed to add into the editing of the video VERY COOL! I don't want to watch a 2 hour video and neither will anyone else! There are so many options...look around and meet with a few different places to get a feel for what you want!

We got a band instead of a DJ so I don't have any advice on that front but I have heard a lot of really good things about Code Bleu.

Good luck!

Re: Videographer, photographer and DJ.

That's some great tips!

Thank you very much for replying. As for work set, yes I have to do the above, however I'm helping with everything else, but the above are my main goals/ responsibilities.

Now when i go and check them out, I will know what to ask.

Thnx again!

Re: Videographer, photographer and DJ.

definetly go to a few different vendors.....

we went to a few before settling on Paul Marino Photograpy and Bellarino Productions for the Video....

we dint pick the cheapest priced vendors here....but we feel they will do an incredible job and we feel 100% comfortable with them....remember this is what you will have to remember the day forever....

we like the fact that the people we sat down and spoke with are the actual people that will be shooting our wedding....our personalities clicked...to us thats important...

definetly take a good look at the albums in any place you go....whaty ou see there is what you will end up with....i know FH was not happy with the layout and qualiy of a few of the places we met with....

good luck and keep us posted.....
