09er needs help....Invitation question

Ok my mother and I are a bit confused.....which inviation gets sent out first, the wedding invitation or the bridal shower invitation. I thought the shower invitation was sent out first and then the wedding invitation. My mom on the other hand says no its the other way around because how are you going to send a bridal shower invitation first when you dont know when the wedding is?

For example my wedding is in september and I plan to send out my invitations by the end of june/beginning of july so im 'thinking' my shower will be in either june or july...

Im confused!!!

normaly you have the shower a few months before the wedding, so the shower invites would go out first.

I know, I always thought the wedding invite should go out first, but logistically, it should be the shower. I know my shower invites are going out next week, but my wedding invites aren't going out until May.

You can also send out save-the-date cards or magnets first (maybe one year or less before the wedding) this way people will be aware of the wedding

If you do STD's there shouldn't be any confusion. People will be aware that your wedding is coming up, so it shouldn't matter what invite they technically receive first.

No not yet since my wedding is next year I am planning to either do them at the one year mark or january of 09

My shower invitations went out in december and my wedding invites in the end of January. They received my wedding invites 2 or 3 days before the shower. HTH

shower is 2-3 months before the wedding so they get sent out first bc well if the shower is 2-3 months before the wedding then invites will go out about 3-5 months before the wedding and peoople need to know when the shower is so they can attend lol. Wedding invites typically go out 2 months before the wedding so if you went by the theory that wedding invites went out first then people wouldnt know about the shower
