Black MOB Dress-Updated

I went shopping with my mom today to look for dresses. She found a few that she likes but one she loves. How do you girls feel about a MOB in a black dress?

Updated: My mom found a platnium Jovani Dress and she ordered it last Sunday.

my mom is wearing a black dress-but it does have white and like sparkly stuff on it. i think its fine but im getting married at night! my bms are in black as well

I like it. I would say go ahead.... if she likes it and it looks good on her.. why not? Esp since you getting married in Nov. I am too, and I told my mom if she finds something dark that she really likes, go right head. You dont want too light of colors that time of the year either...

my mom wore black to my brothers wedding and she looked hot!! I think its fine to wear black

also its a color she may be able to wear again, and its slimming, these were all factors my mom liked about the black.... mine is a night wedding too and my bridesmaids are in black too, but my mom would have chose black regardless cus thats what shes comfortable in!

I think its fine...so many people wear black to weddings these days.....plus she loves it, you want her to wear something she loves

She does look amazing in the dress. I was just second guessing because I had an image in my head of what she would wear. She said she is willing to try one more shop tomorrow. If we do not find anything that compares we are back to get the black dress.

It is all good..men are expected to wear black tuxedos - why can't our moms wear the classic black dress.

My mom isnt wearing back but my FMIL is. if my mom wanted to wear black I think Id be ok with it. i was a bit put off that my FMIL wanted to wear black becausse of the whole sierotype that goes with FMIL's wearing that color as a sign of saddness. But I choose to get over it and not make a big deal beacuse I know she picked it only becuase that is the color she is most comfortable in.

So I feel your pain but its not a big deal.

We had a black tie wedding and my mother wore a beautiful black gown. I think a black dress is absolutely stunning.

I totally think its great! My FMIL made a semi-snide comment about the MOB at some wedding she went to wearing black. I only mention this so you know that there might be 'that person' out there who has something negative to say. But, again, I say go for it!! My Mom is going shopping tomorrow and we looked online first and one of her top choices is black!

I really was so sad when my MIL said she was wearing black, but honestly she looked FANTASTIC that day! You want your mother to be comfortable and think shes beautiful in her dress you know?

I think there is nothing wrong with a black mother of the bride dress it makes them look elegant
