Catholic Wedding Mass
Hi Ladies
So far I have selected two readers......How many other "jobs" do I have to fulfill? Someone told me another person to read the Prayer of the Faithful and another person/people to bring up the gifts? Is that it? How many people do I need for the gifts?
Thanks In Advance! Amanda

Re: Catholic Wedding Mass
We didn't have a mass, our ceremony was interfaith.
But I have attended a lot of church weddings, and from what I remember that sounds right. I don't remember how many people brought up the gifts, but I think its usually two???
If you send an FM to donegal419, you might get the info you are looking for. She is very involved in her church, and very knowledgeable about things relating to Mass.

Re: Catholic Wedding Mass
We had a full mass and needed 3 readers and 2 to bring up the gifts. We wanted to include one more person and asked the priest if there was anything we could do. he said we could have 2 people read the prayer of the faithful, they alternated reading the petitions.

Re: Catholic Wedding Mass
We had 2 readers for the readings and then a reader for the Prayer of the Faithful (but Fr. told us he could read it if we wanted him too... so that decision was up to us) We had 2 people carry up the gifts.

Re: Catholic Wedding Mass
I did:
2 readers (first readong and second reading)
1 reader for the Prayer of the Faithful (although i've seen people do 2, if you really want to include more and they just alternate from petition to petition).
you need at least 2 people for the gifts...but some do 3 or 4 as they have to bring up the cannisters with the hosts as well as the glass containers with the water and wine....depending on how big they are, you might want three people just in case... you don't want anyone dropping anything!!!. I did 4, we had both sets of godparents. (2 brought up the hosts and 2 brought up the water and wine.)
i also included others doing music (cantor was a friend, choir was a friend, organist was a friend)
ETA: We also had 2 more friends participate as Eucharistic minsters... We had 2 priests do the hosts and the 2 friends did the wine. However, you can't just ask people to do this. To be a Eucharistic Minister, there is training involved that you go through at your parish, so it just so happened that 2 of our friends do this at their home churches, so it worked out nicely,

I KNEW you'd have all the answers for her, Karen
Glad you found this thread so you could help out. I think you are more knowledgeable about this stuff than *most* on these boards ...

we had two readers (one for the first reading, one for the second and she also did the prayer of the faithful). We had our Godmothers bring up the gifts, and a friend sing the Ave Maria at the offertory.
