restaurants in garden city/hempstead

(posted on newlyweb chat too- need all the input I can get!)

hi there gals-
starting to work on a welcoming/christening party for Julianne...
Ceremony to be performed by the Monsigneur who performed our wedding ceremony...and a Cantor.
To be held at St Thomas Church in West Hempstead

Any suggestions for a restaurant in the area where we can feed about 30-40 people REASONABLY?

So far, 7th st cafe was suggested as was Lucky Duck , market grill and Pompeii restaurants. Pompeii has nothing avail on our date, Lucky Duck didnt pick up when I called around noonish today...and 7th st cafe and Market grill are running about $35 pp and that is the most reasonable menu they have. ( At this rate it is going to cost us $1100 for the restaurant- and that's if just 30 people come- argh!)

I'm looking for a nice place, can be buffet style, can be a pizza/restaurant combo or one of the nicer China Buffet types of places....

Need help!

My friend's husband is the chef at Seventh St. cafe. I think they just changed their name. I have been there and do not remember it being a christening party type atmosphere. Pomodorino in Garden City park may be reasonable.

WOW it's like you just read my mind........My husband and I are expecting in April. We are looking into doing a welcoming ceremony with a priest and rabbi. What is yours going to entail.......we were married by a monseignor and cantor as well maybe they would do it..........What is going to be included in the ceremony?
Do you still live in Long Beach? We are in Rockaway. Forum mail if you donot want to post..........

Re: restaurants in garden city/hempstead

Sorry, no restaurants to recommend, I'll try to think of something!!

I'm really interested in your welcoming/Christening ceremony. Even though I've got 5 months, we're also going through the same thing now! Thinking of how we'll introduce our baby to both faiths.

When you have a chance, could you let me know how you plan to do this? Julianne will be Christened w/ Godparents? What's the Cantor's role? We were also married by a RC Priest & a Rabbi (at our hall). I'd love to have a Rabbi or Cantor present at the Christening, but I'm not sure how this is done? I'm concerned about making both sides comfortable.

BTW, St. Thomas is a beautiful church! I was a BM in a wedding there!

Thanks!!
