Moving is SOOOO much work

Packing! Who likes it? I doubt anyone. The only good thing is that you get rid of tons of stuff that you almost forgot you had.
We were packing up the kitchen and Scott said, 'You would have to cook for a year to use all of these tupperwares'

and he's right. How many bowls do I need, when I really always reach for the same one. It is funny the stuff you just 'have to keep' and the stuff that you will chuck without so much as a thought.
Just an observation. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

We still have a bag downstairs full of bridal shower gifts we haven't gotten to. Its amazing how much stuff we accumulate over the years. I have so much stuff that I refuse to throw out because I swear someday I will need it.

I don't mind the packing so much but by the time we need to unpack I am exhausted and I have in the past taken forever to do it

I agree its a good time to decide if you 'really need' things. I always end up throwing away a ton of stuff I forgot I had and never used.

During my last move I came across the biggest corning ware dish that I have ever seen. I used it once for a ziti and it took over an hour just to heat up the ziti.

We just moved into our new house. Both of us came from our parents and didn't have much stuff. Now we NEED things to fill up our house!

Michele31....you can send the tupperware my way if you want to get rid of it!

Kelly- if you want tupperware you got it. It's not 'real' tupperware thought. It is the fake stuff but it holds food just fine. After the move I will put what I don't need aside for you.

We wind up losing a lot of those tupperware or storage containers when we give friends leftovers to take with them.They somehow never find their way back.

Michelle you are killing me with the tupperwear....when we moved from our apt to the house I made Harry pack up 2 big garbage bags full of Tupperwere and the fake stuff...hauled it all the way here and guess what???? Its still all in the bags!! I do not have room for all of the stuff that I brought right now...so I making do with the few things that I have. He wants to get rid of them and I will not let him!!

Michele (& Scott)...good luck tomorrow with your closing! I know everything will go smoothly...enjoy celebrating. Everyone told us yesterday that we will remember the day for many, many years...so I am saying the same thing to you guys! Enjoy!

And, if you think moving is a good way to get rid of a lot of junk - just WAIT until you're pregnant and preparing for the arrival of the baby. Nesting makes you want to get rid of EVERYTHING!

I hate packing! I have moved 4 times in the last 6 years and it stinks everytime. I enjoy moving in and setting up a new place but I hate packing stuff. I am finally setting into my new apartment..I just finished unpacking all my shower gifts this week (including all the china and crystal into the china closet) but I know that I plan on buying a house this year so the whole time I was setting everything up (and it look so nice) I was saying boy Denise are you setting yourself up for a torturous move!

I can sympathize with the packing as I am doing it now too...I give lots of stuff to my mom and she sells it in garage sales...
