Prenatal vitamins before pregnancy

Has anyone taken prenatal vitamins prior to getting pregnant? And when did you start taking them?

I started taking the prenatal vitamins in oct..(we were going to start trying right away but then plans changed) we hope to try soon.. they are expensive so i used the last of the samples the dr. gave me in December, and i am only taking folic acid now..

I started taking them in September. So glad I did because now I'm preggo

I think if you're TTC or if you are not using birth control, you should take some sort of vitamin with folic acid in it (prenatals usually have 800mg, while multivitamins for women have 400ng), in case you do get pregnant. The folic acid is important for spinal cord development (to prevent neural tube defects like spina bifida) that begins within the first couple of weeks of conception, usually this is before you even take a pregnancy test.

I take OTC prenatals and they range from $5 to $10 per 100, so not expensive compared to Rx prenatals. I started taking them as soon as we started TTC.

My dr recommended being on them 3 months before we start TTC--so Feb 15 here I come!!!! Seriously though we are waiting a few more months--BTW my RX prenatals are only $16

Thanks for the baby dust just send it my way..in the middle of september. I want to make sure all that alcohol from the wedding is out of my system.
I've been taking the prenatals and I can't believe how fast my nails and hair grow.
