DIY kissing balls or pomanders - NOT SILK?
Anyone have any experience making these out of real flowers?
What is the most cost effective flower to make this from?
What are the supplies you need?
How much in advance can you make them before they wilt?

Re: DIY kissing balls or pomanders - NOT SILK?
I am making a pomander for one of the little gils and I am using fake flowers . I think all you need is a syrofoam and use flower picks and attach it to the syrofoam ball. You can get the balls at michael's or AC moore. You can make them two days before but you have to have alarge fridge at the right temp to keep them fresh. I hope this information helps.

The ones you have posted in that photo seem to be made from dried poms. I made mine from silk.
I am sure they CAN be made from fresh but I'm not sure how far ahead you would be able to make them. Most fresh centerpieces have the floral foam insterts that are soaked with water to keep them from wilting. I am not if that would pose a problem with dripping.

If you are using fresh flowers, make sure you use oasis, not styrofoam. Soak it first for 30min before using. The most resilient & least costly flower...I'd go with either carnations or mums.
