I am going to interject her with what I think most likely happened to heather-
MOM had the apointment... brought the KID and said ... oh yeah can you do her nails too.. NO APPOINTMENT. That has happened to me plenty of times and it is a pain if I ((PAYING REGULAR CUSTOMER)) have to wait because your kid wants their nails done too.
Ofcorse the nail people will say yes, it is some extra cash for a coat of paint,, but if they have someone else there and waiting they should not do it.
I think most nail salons generally have a lot of "walk-in" customers, children or adults. At least I know in the city there is a lot of walk-in business and some places don't even take appointments from what I've experienced. However, if they do set up appointments then they should take their appointment first and then anybody else after that. That being said the child is a paying customer if their parent is paying for them.

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
My salon takes appointments and walk in's they are usually really good about it. I have been going there for 8 years. It is just annoying when I have to deal with someone elses brat there running around while they totally ignore them.
Yes,, I have made a comment to the mother when their Kid would not leave me alone

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
i dont think kids she be allowed anywhere i LOVE kids - but they get on my nerves very easily....especially at restaurants, movies, salons, etc.
my mother had total control of my sister and i when we were kids - she was also so paranoid about us getting kidnapped that we were literally at her side/holding hands....kids these days run amuck - it amazes me - i see kids in the stores running around, just wandering, and i wonder where their parents are - dont they realize how easy it is to snatch up a kid? sometimes i wonder if they do it on purpose hoping someone will just take the kid
but anyways i understand where you are coming from mima

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
I experienced and 8 year old birthday party once at a nail salon. I counted 7 little girls all getting their nails done, no nail techs available, kids running around once they were done - it was insane!

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
OK I have a few views on this: 1.) I was at the nail salon 2 weeks ago and there was a mom there pretty much yelling at her maybe 10 yr old daughter to stop crying and let the woman paint the flower/design on her other toe nail. It was ridiculous. Now I love children but come on woman your daughter is crying hysterically you already paid and your daughter is crying because she doesn't want the design the woman made on her first toe nail. Now the mom is making a bigger scene by yelling at the daughter to let the woman finish the other toe. It was crazy. And I could tell people were getting annoyed. But that was the woman's fault let your kid be if they want to look silly or whatever with one design on one toe than so be it. Take yuor daughter out of the nail salon bec she is freaking hysterical
2.) I do think if your children are well behaved then it's okay to bring them. But there are times when a mother can go get her nails done and have someone watch their child-the husband/grandma etc. But if that is not the case I think they should make sure their child is well behaved. I think when a child is not well behaved and is perfectly healthy (and has no special needs) alot of it has to do with the parents. They allow their child to act that way and never show reprecussions for their childs bad behavior. It is sad.
3.) I just can't imagine spending money on my 7 yr old on getting their nails done. I mean I dont get my nails done often. But I just cant see spending about the money (i guess since i dont get my nails done often) on my 7 YEAR OLD who has tiny little fingers and all...when I could do it at home for her. I don't know this is just my opinion. I just dont see the need.

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
I agree some of you. I have no problem with children in the nail salon as long as they are well behaved. And when they aren't behaved it is not so much them I have problem with it is their PARENT who I can't deal with for not doing taking care of their child.
As far as the women on their cell phones in the salon I have asked on more then one occassion for them to get off. But I also am the one who tells the girls on the treadmill at the gym that they should continue their conversation later on or move away from me!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
I can't stand people screaming on their cell phones, little uncontrolled kids running around the salon, and stupid teen-bopper songs as ringtones. I also hated it when the woman next to me at the drying table was chewing her cud (I mean gum). I think everyone should shut up at the salon and be able to relax and enjoy. Wow I feel much better now!!!!!

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
I see that all the time
For easter some girl had a tantrum because the bunny rabbit design she got was not identical to the one her cousin got. Give me a freakin break.
Most kids at the salon are well behaved -- but it IS a place to relax and those few that act up are seriously annoying

Maybe not adult only, but the mother should have made her kid sit and be quiet and not run through the place. That's BS.

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
I think the real issue is parents disciplining their children. That's the part that really gets on your nerves...when a parent just lets their child run wild and shows no regard for those in their presence. A well-haved child you don't mind so much. And, at the heart of the issue is how some of the parents behave....that sometimes is the real problem. You know the saying...the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! How are some of these children to know how to behave when the parents don't show some common courtesy.

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
I actually find the adult who has no tolerance for children to be the annoying one. They're the one with the problem after all, not the innocent children getting her or his nails done. I would rather be around 10,000 loud talkative kids getting daises on their toenails then one annoying irritable eye-rolling adult. And I've seen plenty of them in the nail salon. Then again, I like children and animals a hell of a lot more then grown-ups, lol. If its a public business, then I say just deal with it. The kid has just as much of a right to be there as anyone else. Ageism should be left for bars and clubs, not nail salons.

Re: Question/Vent of the Day
I bet most of you are not parents that said no to kids. Dop you know what it cost for a babysitter now-a-days? There are no more teenagers willing to babysit, like when I was growing up, for very little money. Today, it is $10/hr per child and they charge for anytime you go over. What if your husband/partner works on the weekends when that is your only chance to go? Not everyone has willing parents to watch or want to ask someone to watch the kids for that reason. They rather use that favor for a night or somewhere they can't bring the kids. I pay for my daughter to get her nails done and YES, I TIP for her. Sometimes it annoys me when she takes it off pretty soon afterwards, but I know she enjoyed herself. Once, I actually paid double because she asked for different colors for each fingers. They are a paying customer and belong there. They shouldn't take your spot if you have an appmt and they don't, but that is the salons fault for allowing it, not theirs. How do they know that? I agree that kids shouldn't be allowed to scream and go wild, that annoys parents also. If they are in your seat and not being taken care of, ask them to kindly move. If they are loud and obnoxiuos, talk to the owner about it. It is their responsiblilty to correct the situation. Wear head phones/ipod to drown out any annoying sounds. I personally love to hear the sounds of children playing. There is nothing more precious in the world. I hope someday you will see what I mean.
