How much do you spend on Engagement Party Gifts? (with poll)

Just curious ... how much do you typically spend on a gift when you go to an engagement party? We got such a huge range of gifts at our e-party, I really have no idea what to do.

I do know that I want to get them something from their registry, they included the cards with the invite. When I was a bride, I wanted to

over non-registry gifts.

The groom was in our BP, and is DH's college roommate and fraternity brother.

The party is at their apartment.

In our circle no one has engagement parties. Just a bridal shower and the wedding, so I really don't know what the norm is. Sorry, I'm no help!

depends how close you are with them. I would do around $100 -$150

I would say around $100, depending on how close you are to the couple.

I usually spend about $100..however the gifts i received were worth 200 to 300

I would say $100. We had an engagement party and we didn't expect anyone to give us anything. In the end, we got money and some other gifts, which was all good with me considering I wasn't expecting anything.

i don't spend much on e-parties because i feel its kinda odd to have a party to be engaged when a lot of engagements end before marriage IoI (in my circle). Last E party i went to was for my cousin and i think i spent $30-$35 on a gift. I would give more if it was a closer family member most $50.

LOL I have no idea- I have never really been to an engagement party. We went to one a couple of years ago and it was for DH's friends I had never met. It was a casual backyard party and I didn't know we were supposed to give a gift. DH said we had to so we went to william sonoma and spent like $30. We got them a nice set of margarita glasses. LOL I thought it was weird we were supposed to bring a gift since it wasn't the wedding- But I had never known anyone to have an engagement party before that.
