Wedding cake one year later

Has anyone tasted their cake a year later? We are married a year on Sunday and even after moving twice we still have kept the cake with us and moved it from freezer to freezer. I was just wonderfing how long in advance we should take it out? Do you think it would taste like it was in a freezer for a year? Let me know what you girls have done.

Re: Wedding cake one year later

we ate ours...it wasnt bad but we only would try a bite each. I think it was because we knew that it was in the freezer for a year that it kind of grossed us out!!

Re: Wedding cake one year later

Happy anniversary!!!

We have a while to go before our first anniversary, so I don't know how your year old cake will taste. As a matter of fact, I won't know how our cake will taste either...we ate it the day after our wedding

Re: Wedding cake one year later

We ate most of the cake the week following the wedding. But we took a 1/4 of the top tier (about 2 big slices worth) saran wrapped it, froze it and then we vacuum sealed it because we have one of those food saver vacuum sealer thingys. I figure that if it can keep lettuce for 3 months it can hold frozen cake for a year LOL

Re: Wedding cake one year later

I was adament about eating our cake on our anniversary. Considering how much space it took up in our freezer I wasn't going to let it go to waste. My hubby (who has major expiration date issues with food) was so disgusted by the thought of eating it, but I after I forced it down his throat (just kidding) he ate it and we both agrred it was pretty darn good. If you wrap it correctly you should have no problem.

Re: Wedding cake one year later

Happy Anniversary! Like Susan, we wrapped our top REALLY well in tupperware, then saran wrap, then foil and finally a plastic bag! We still have about 9 months left til our first anniversary but hopefully it will still be edible!

Re: Wedding cake one year later

We have our top tier frozen too and with 3 months to go, we already know we are not going to eat it. We'll probably just take a picture and toss it!! LOL.

We had a small freezer in the garage we stored it in, but unbeknownst to us, the freezer wasn't working and it was a while before we figured that out, so I would say it was frozen, defrosted, re-frozen, etc.!! It should be interested thought to see it again.

Time flew. I can't belive it's only 3 more months to our 1 year.

Re: Wedding cake one year later

We ate ours on our anniversary (in December). The inside was really good, but the outer-most layer of frosting was not as good.
