NWR: Advice for FH

FH started a new job on 7/1. He doesnt really like it and the pay stinks but of course we need the money. When he interviewed they said it was XX amount of money and 40 hours a week. He gets hired and it was less money and only 37.5 hours a week. The only reason he took it was because he was being laid off because the company he worked for is closing.
He went on an interview today (called in sick) and they want to see him again on thursday. He doesnt know what he should tell his current job. Any ideas?

Re: NWR: Advice for FH

I would tell him to call in sick again and say that he's still not feeling well.

Re: NWR: Advice for FH

I would tell him to let his current employer know that he can not survive as he expected more hours and money.

Re: NWR: Advice for FH

Call in again - The worst case scenario is that they let him go and he gets unemployment and time to find a better job

Re: NWR: Advice for FH

Definitely call in again. If he gets a job offer and wants to tell his current employer to see if they will match the pay, etc. he could do that too. But only after he has another offer that he is willing to take.

Good luck!

I agree. He only started the job a week ago- he's going to look like an idiot calling in sick- especially 2x.

Re: NWR: Advice for FH

on the first day FH told his boss that he really needed to work 40 hours a week considering the amount of money per hour they offered him. Boss told him that they only offer 37.5 hours in case they ever need u to work late so they dont have to pay overtime.
We both agree he needs to take a chance. I told him to go in tomorrow complain that his stomach still hurts and then thursday morning say he went to the bathroom and there was blood and he needs to go to the dr.
