washington DC?
John and I are thinking of taking a trip to go site seeing etc. What is the best way to do this? Id rather fly 1 hour on jet blue then drive. Would we have to rent a car down there or are there shuttles? Where is a really nice but central located hotel? and any restaurant suggestions?Oh also John was hoping to catch a capitals/rangers game. is there stadium anywhere near that?
thanks girls

Re: washington DC?
I love Washington DC, DH & I went there on our honeymoon!! We drove down and it was a nice drive. We actually stayed in Maryland and took the metro into the city everyday, which was easy because our hotel had a shuttle that took you to the train & would pick you up. As far as going to see a capitals game, you could always check out ticketmaster.com to check for availability and venue location.

Re: washington DC?
You could also take Amtrak down there. And they have a subway system that gets you most everywhere around town, it's called the Metro.

Re: washington DC?
You def don't need a car. We went there for our honeymoon for a few days before we left for our cruise. We stayed at a fantastic but expensive hotel called Sofitel. It was great!!!! I hightly recomend it

Re: washington DC?
you definitely don't need a car, in fact, having a car will probably slow you down bc parking is crazy there! the washington capitals play at the Verizon Center, which has a metro stop and is in the heart of the city right near Chinatown, so it's very easy to get to.I like to stay at the Embassy Suites in Alexandria, VA, which is right across the street from the King Street metro station, and from there you're a short walk away from the waterfront area and lots of fun restaurants and bars, and then you're really close to downtown DC also, just a short metro hop away.
I would recommend Amtrak--only a 3-4 hour train ride, depending which one you take, and you don't have to deal with driving through traffic or airline security!
