Interview question - weird?

Has anyone ever heard of 'speculative basis interviews?' The person said that they do not have current opennings and would like to meet on a speculative basis. Is it even worth going to?

that probably means that they will consider you when they do have an opening or they have an opening and are going to feel you out to see if you should interview for that position. Cant hurt to go

My company does this all the time. It helps the HR people weed through prospective applicants in advance so they can fill spots faster when they do come up. Definitely worth going.
