Marisa silk gowns or Maggie...anyone? Help!!!

Hey guys...I had originally fallen in love with a Maggie dress, the Victoriana and than I had an appointment at Kleinfelds and also tried on a Marisa dress, which looks almost the same...the Marisa is a little more $ and it is silk instead of taffeta.
Anybody have pics of Marisa gowns or have any experience with this brand?
Anybody have any bad experiences with a silk gown in the heat of summer??

I am also beyond annoyed bc I have a pic of the Maggie gown ( me wearing it) and at Kleinfelds they do not let you take pics and the dress is neither on their website nor on the designer's website.....it is hard to picture

I am driving myself nuts

Re: Marisa silk gowns or Maggie...anyone? Help!!!

I love Marisa dresses. My choices were narrowed down to either Marisa or Jim Hjelm/James Clifford dress. IMO, Marisa dresses are better because the fabrics they use are luxurious. You look at the dress and you just know that it is a couture dress. Maggies are beautiful as well. It's a personal preference really. Do you want taffeta or silk satin?

BTW, my sister had a Marisa dress and wore it in July and it was hot that day. She didn't complain about the heat or anything.

Re: Marisa silk gowns or Maggie...anyone? Help!!!

Well, I had always pictured myself in a pretty simple A line dress, kind of lacy (I love Jessica Simpson's wedding look), but than I tried the Maggie dress and my heart was racing and I loved it. Thats when I started to fall in love with pickup skirts and they do look best on me. Than last weekend I tried the Marisa and I had a good feeling and my friend started saying how much she liked it, but somehow I was still thinking about the Maggie dress in the back of my head. Also I had never really considered silky materials, bc I thought they would not be that flattering on me.

Arrgh I am being a girl and I am not sure if I am just unsure bc I have not seen the Maggie dress on me again. I will def have to try it on again and than compare...thanks girls!!!

Re: Marisa silk gowns or Maggie...anyone? Help!!!

i am wearing a marisa gown ...and i know there are no pics anywhere...for some reason they choose not to advertise...

but the quality of the fabric and the dresses themselves is gorgeous!!! Oddly enough...I found out Marisa gown are made in the USA...and not in china like almost every other wedding dress...so marisa gowns don't have to come over on smelly fish boats lol...which i think is great...

i am however partial lol

I decided btw a marisa and a Jim Hjelm too! I loved the marisa gowns!!! They are beautiful.
As for tafetta vs silk, it is a personal choice. The silk marisa cost less than my JH tafetta...
But some tafetta looks better than others...
Go try them on again and see how you feel...
You may also want to try the marisa dresses elsewhere, that let you take pics.
Bridal reflections in massapequa let me take pics!

Re: Marisa silk gowns or Maggie...anyone? Help!!!

I'm wearing a Marissa. You can see the photo in my album. I think the fabric is so luxurious everyone was making comments on it in the store. I also found it to be very inexpensive considering the look and feel of the fabric.

I never thought I would be in a dress with pickups.

I got it at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place

Re: Marisa silk gowns or Maggie...anyone? Help!!!

If the taffeta is made of silk, the decision should be purely on looks because they will be the same (temperature wise) in the summer. If the taffeta is made of synthetic fibers, then you may be warmer when you are wearing that dress. The one in your album is beautiful, but I am sure the other one is also.

Re: Marisa silk gowns or Maggie...anyone? Help!!!

I ordered a Marisa gown, but mine doesnt have pick-ups. The fabric was what really sold me on this dress. The way that light reflects off the silk-satin is unreal. I dont know if the pics in my album do it justice.

Re: Marisa silk gowns or Maggie...anyone? Help!!!

I'm a silk-satin Marisa bride and I love my dress. The fabric is fabulous and that is one of the main reasons I bought this dress! Hope this helps, plus my cousin just wore a Marisa gown as well!

The reason why she doesnt have many pictures on the website is because she does a lot of knock off dresses.....
