Spinoff to Budget

for the girls who have set a budget..how did you come up with your number?

FH decided how much we should spend (he is contributing more than i am) so i am sticking to the number that he set

Once I booked my RH I just doubled the price and then added 5k for 'error' (otherwise known as 'sh!t I really want')

We based it on a few things:

-The average cost of weddings compared to the average cost of a NY wedding

- Our salaries

- Future things we want to do

- We picked a number that we would like to stay at, and then another number that we definitely don't want to go over. (that way we have some room to spare).

We said, 'Ok, how much can we reasonably save in two years?' Then, we took 75% of that number toward the wedding and the other 25% toward our regular savings i.e. house down payment. That being said FH is saving toward these things, while I am paying off my debt and school loan. By the time the wedding comes we'll be debt free and have saved enough for both. Hopefully!

we asked my brother and SIL how much they spent for things for their wedding

we took the prices of RH's and amount of people

figured out how much we made and how much we could save, where we could splurge and where to cut corners
