VENT - Invitations aren't even out yet!!!

My invitations haven't even gone out and FH's extended family is already causing issues.

This weekend my FSIL asked me if one of her cousin's came up to me and asked me if I was inviting people with their kids at his other cousin's engagement party. Mind you, I've seen this woman maybe twice since FH and I got engaged....at his familie's big 4th of July party her kids were like, 'we don't even know everyone here...are we related to everyone'.

Needless to say she didn't ask me, but I made it very clear that the only people invited with kids were immediate family and bridal party, that comes to about 15-17 kids.

Obviously I have nothing against kids, but if we were to invite everyone with kids, especially his side, then we'd be WAY over our min. and we just don't have that kind of $$$$$.

I have a feeling his side is going to give me issues. His mom can never say no to people and I'm just going to have to be the one to make the call to these people.

FH thinks that we're not going to meet out min. because of the date, but I rather be a little under the min. than over by A Lot! He also doesn't like to ruffles anyone's feather's. Guess I'm just the 'bad' guy.

OK...Vent Over. Just needed to get it out!!!!

I feel the same way. My wedding is this coming Sunday and I have family asking me if kids are invited. UH HELLO, the invite didn't say and Family. Plus if I invited all the kids in my family it would be about 40 plus kids. Sorry I can't afford that.

it's ok i am going through the same thing...well i have been since we got engaged actually....because I am NOT inviting kids at all- except my 10 yr old brother!

but NO kids at my wedding I have toooooo many younger cousins and it would just get to crazy some aren't that well behaved and in my opinion i don't think they need to be out till 1am to a formal wedding.

but i am the bad guy as well because my grandma already called up for the shower how we didn't invite the younger girl cousins who are 9-12 (who are not invited to the wedding). but i said NO and plus FH's side only has like 4 little cousins (2nd and 3rd not even first) and they arent invited so it would be unfair.

I say DO WHAT YOU WANT. IT IS YOUR WEDDING. I realized with 2 months to go i have to make ME and FH happy not everyone else who isn't contributing a dime to this wedding!!

I am sooooo tierd of the 'kids at the wedding issues!!'
I cant believe that people are thinking a wedding is a reunion. It is an adult function in my eyes. If you choose not to have children there, or a certain age cut off. that is your perogative!

yuck. My grandma tried to to give me attitude about inviting out of state family that i don't even know way BEFORE invitations were even sent out. I dont' have the money to be inviting people I'm not close with. So, whatever. I've just learned to ignore people. After this long, I've finally come to the conclusion that it's MY wedding and I know what I can afford. So if obnoxious people have a problem with it, jut don't come. I'll get by without them, i suppose. It'll be their loss, not mine.

People do s u c k!!! It's like why start the drama before you even get my effing invitation. Even still, FH isn't close to you, what makes you think we'd invite you with your kids...this isn't a free-for-all!!!

I really don't care if I'm the bad guy...I have no issues saying NO.

FH thinks I'm overreacting and that we may want these kids to come because we might be below our min. I told him he better suport me on this or I will just go nuts on him.

Well said!! I totally agree. A wedding is for adults. Whatever you chose to do is the right decision because it's your day.

ugh...the not so fun part begins and you haven't even got the invites out...I don't know why people think a wedding is a dang cookout!!

what's funny is sometimes married people are the ones making the demands....its like they forget how they were when they got married! crazy...
