Negotiating cable bill?
DH and I have direcTV and signed up with a promotional offer that has now expired. They are offering a similar offer now for new members.I want to call and try to see if they will lower our bill -- dont know if the best method is to call to 'cancel' and see what they offer, or just outright ask, or what.
When I cancelled our landline phone a year ago they threw all of these special deals at me, but we didnt need the phone line so I just cancelled. I dont actually want to cancel our service...
any suggestions?

What if you ask them if there are any deals they can give you and then if they say no tell them that you want information on how to cancel your subscription bc another company is cheaper. THey may give you a deal so as not to lose you entirely.

Yea. Alot of times they don't want to lose the customer so its worth it to them to give you a sale price or extras. Never hurts to ask.

Try to neg. DH so could at it, that has become his job. He sweet talks them into lowering the rates. The dept that cancels the plan, usually is no help, for what I have experienced. He usually starts with customer service.
