Re: how do you keep the weight off

I put on 10 pounds after and during the wedding...and I lost 15 in 3 months and kept it off. I basically follow this

3 parts protein
1 part dairy
3 parts carbs
no or low sugur ( its hard ) but they have sugur free products now...no sugur added items I like

Equal carbs and protein at each major meal.

Dairy is a big no no for me...It makes me feel sluggish after I eat it and ever since I kept the dairy to a minimum it helped me maintain my weight. I drink soy milk instead of regular milk.

If I feel a craving for sweets Sugur free ice cream counts as a carb NOT a dairy.

La weightloss diet is great
and I also use the core for ww

Here is what I ate today
1 apple
salmon with vegies and a baked potato
one slice of whole wheat toast with organic blue berry jam ( no sugur added )
Chicken with BBQ sauce
Salad with walnuts and pomegranate balsamic viniger.
For desert I had Chocolate frozen yogurt

LOTS of water and sugur free candies to keep me from eating french fries at work all day!

Here are a few pointers
Do not eat out alot..if you do cut your portion in half right away and put it in a tin to take home or order off the healthy menu...if there is one!
Did you know a crock of french onion soup alone is 10 grams of fat with over 1000mg of sodium!!

NO FRIED FOOD! French fries, fried chicken, fried fish.....any of that is a big no no!

High calorie/fat dressings...I use balsamic viniger mixed with mustard. NO fat and like 30 calories! Blue cheese 1 TBSP is 8 grams of fat!

RED MEAT.......very high in fat...take an iron supplement and skip red meat as much as possible....I switched to ground turkey and chicken...for burgers/meatloaf./meatballs!

WHITE starches! Switch to whole wheat and guess what!???RYE is even better! 1gram of fat for two slices!

Stay away from artificial sweetners as much as possible they make you more hungry!

Dont use up your calories on beverages...especially ones with high sugur such as soda and certain fruit juices! Stick with unsweetened iced tea, water and club sodas! Add fruit to these and its refreshing!

Start with cutting your portions into quarters and eat slower!

Good luck...it becomes a lifestyle and the healthier you eat the more energy you will have and the better you will feel!!!!

Re: how do you keep the weight off

Although I dont have the time to go to the gym or running as I did prior to the wedding, I have been very careful with what I eat now. I splurge on weekends but weekdays I try to be pretty good.

Re: how do you keep the weight off

Cardio has so many benefits other than just to lose weight. I would recommend at least 3-5 days a week for 30 min a day.

Though it is possible to lose weight and keep it off without exercising. It is all portion control. I have have lost 15-20 lbs in the past just from altering my diet. Without working out!

I watch what I eat during the week, and Sat. is my day to eat what I want (to a certain point)

A normal day for me is:

Breakfast-
1 cup raisen bran cereal
1/2 cup skim milk
yogurt

Snack
100 cal pack of chips

Lunch
Lean cuisine tv dinner or low fat low sodium soup (there are a lot of healthy options)

Snack
apple or orange

Dinner
Home cooked meal with chicken, side of veggies and small portion of mashed potatoes or rice

Dessert
100 cal ice cream bar

It has worked for me so far! I also do cardio and lifting 5 days a week.

Re: how do you keep the weight off

walk after dinner, at least for 30 min.

No carbs at night, or if you do, very little...
Don't eat after 7pm... and just eat healthy

Re: how do you keep the weight off

I'm in the same boat- What I did was replace alot of meals and snacks with vegetables and fruits...it makes a big difference!!!

They can be raw or cooked, dosen't matter. One thing I really love is sauteed mushrooms and beanspouts sauteed in butter flavored cooking spray with soy sauce and sesame seeds! YUM!!!! AND ZERO POINTS!!!!

I eat it for dinner sometimes when I feel tubby.

I found its a lot harder now that I cook full meals. I never ate like this when I was single, but now that I'm cooking for the both of us I make side dishes and everything. It adds calories! He gained about 20 lbs!!!

Re: how do you keep the weight off

i also workout at home, works out better for me bc i'll do it more often this way. This way when i say ok i'll work out right now, ill do it right then and there, rather than get dressed for the gym, driving there, looking for parking then coming home. Sometimes you might have just 30 mins in your day to work out so thats why.

Once you lose the weight you wanted to lose, you dont have to work out lets say 5-6x a week, you can do 3-4 days a week and maybe instead of an hour do 30 mins. You dont have to live at the gym, or work out all the time. Now its more about maintaining it.

Unfortunately, i have gained a decent amount after the wedding so i have to go back to hardcore working out, even making myself do it today.
