Re: Honeymoon Registry
I don't know anyone who's done one, but i think i'm with you on the tacky end of the spectrum. I don't know, i think people giving you money that you use toward your HM is fine, i just think it seems slightly awkward to be like, hey, wanna help pay for my HM? Unless maybe they're giving you like, a basket of goodies you can use on your honeymoon...that could be cute

Re: Honeymoon Registry
I did it and it was great!!!I personally think that is better for couples who already have a house and are living together. Because then you don't have as much to register for. Like for me I didn't need to register for dishes, glasses, china, crystal.
That is my opinion that was all we registered for when we had our e party and it was nice.

Re: Honeymoon Registry
I was thinking of doing this more so for my parents and siblings, to add money to our honeymoon for my b day gift and x-mas. I know when i mentioned to my mom she thought this was a good idea. We both still live at home so we will need the gifts for our home some day. My parents don't have the means to help us with the wedding so indirectly this is a way for them to do so in a practicle way over time.

Re: Honeymoon Registry
I was thinking I may have to do it as well. If I don't I may not be going anywhere!

Re: Honeymoon Registry
I'm with you, I am doing a honeymoon registry as well. My FH and I already live together and definitely don't need china, glasses, dishes, pots, pans, etc - w've been together for 7 yrs already so those bases were covered yrs ago. Our guests are going to be spending money anyway whether it be buying you a romantic dinner for 2 in Mexico or a set of pots & pans so if you really want to do the honeymoon registry I say go for it! Why not!

Re: Honeymoon Registry
I can see why people do the idea of a hm registry. I didn't have one because I had a regular registry. I just think it might be a little overkill if you have an e-party, regular registry and then hm registry. To me that just made me feel like it was too much of an expense for my guest.I know people have have done the registry and loved it, it just wasnt for me.

Re: Honeymoon Registry
I am doing a HM registry. After paying for a whole wedding I don't think I will be able to afford a HM so it would really help us out. Plus we already live together and don't need alot of stuff.

Just be careful bc I have heard that sometimes the registry gets paid in cash to the couple after the wedding. This might just have happened to a friend of mines, but double check just in case.

Re: Honeymoon Registry
Well the registry is set up in different sections such as rooms, dinner, massages and all different things just so people feel they are putting money towards certain things but the travel agent just gives you the cash ( whenever you ask for it so it can be before the wedding) and then you put the money towards what you need it for.

are you going to use the money though for things ppl paid for. For example if someone paid for a massage they will want to hear about it.

Re: Honeymoon Registry
i never heard of this. Is this done in place of a regular 'home' registry?? Because if not, then i think it would be asking for too much. You know - having the shower gift, the wedding gift, AND a honeymoon gift (plus the engagement gift, if ya did an e-party also). That all just seems like asking for too much. JMO. But if it's in place of home necessities, like utensils and whatever because you dont even need those, then I think it would be okay. But as for being 'tacky' i'm not sure. Like i said, I've never even heard of this. lol.

Re: Honeymoon Registry
We are having a HM registry and a regular registry. I dont think it is tacky, we are spending much more than we intended to on the wedding and our registry for our home isnt that large at all. I think it gives people the option instead of getting a giftcard if the registry gets completed, they can put it towards a romantic dinner, a day trip, room upgrade, anything that they want. I think its a cute idea.

Re: Honeymoon Registry
I just attended a wedding and the couple had a honeymoon registry. They already lived together so i think this made sense for them.I thought it was fantastic. They are honeymooning in Argentina and I was VERY excited to select gifts for them since I've been to Buenos Aires myself. Last I checked they had massages, romantic dinners, within country flights, nights in hotels ect....paid for.
The range of gifts was from $25 (cafe con leche and pastries at Cafe Tortoni) to increments of $100 for flights. I say go for it!

Re: Honeymoon Registry
I am actually thinking of doing a hm registry because I already live in my condo and don't need too many things.I was thinking of going through Liberty Travel....and what my agent told me was that either you can go online and register (but you only get 90% of what the guests give to you) or you can just have the guests give money like a giftcard and then you give it to your agent like it was money.
Are there any other ways to go about this?
