Property Question

So DH and his parents own a property....and DH's parents want to transfer their share to him (i.e., DH's name only would be on the deed). As DH's wife, am I entitled to any part of the property since he acquired it after we got married?

TIA!

Re: Property Question

Hmmm not sure but I think you should be able to add your name to the deed....or he can bring you in as partner?

I could only wish....

DH has been procrastinating on starting the whole process...and last night I told him that if I were in his place, everything would have been done with already...and he says to me, 'Can you call the lawyers and take care of everything? But your name can't appear anywhere.' That hurt me so much

Re: Property Question

Well the thing is this...you did acquire the property during marriage however you didnt buy it as a married couple, it was passed on to your DH from his parents who were the owners...so i think that unless you put your name on the property with DH it is technically his. You should probably talk to him about how you feel about this and see what his response is.

I don't want to intrude on his family's financial matters....I thought that DH would propose to put my name on as well but he has not. The property in question is the house we actually live in so I feel even more hurt by all this.
