Re: Who's names is first on the seating card? HELP!

I didn't want to leave you hanging, so I'm attempting to answer your question. If etiquette suggests putting the 'Mr' before the 'Mrs' when sending mail/invitations, etc... my guess would be that you would follow this rule when writing out your placecards.

If on the other hand you are inviting a female guest who is to bring a date that you don't know, I would recommend putting her name first, and then the guest's name. I hope this makes sense in some way.

I only saw this done once.
Now I'm wondering if your dilemma was the reason.
It is certainly not common.
Each seating card named one individual.
(i.e. one card for John Smith and another for Jane Smith)
I have no idea if it acceptable etiquette but it would solve your problem.

Re: Who's names is first on the seating card? HELP!

Typically, the woman's name comes first when the couple is dating, after they are married the guys name is first.

Good Luck,
Theresa

Re: Who's names is first on the seating card? HELP!

Hi --

In answer to your question,

A Wedding Invitation is a Formal Social Invitation
---Therefore, the proper wording is as follows ---

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith request the honour, etc..

The seating card, however would follow the same as an informal note-- an informal note (or Thank You) would read Jessica and Sam--

If you are going with informal on the Seating Card ----then the correct way would be:

Jessica and Sam Johnson

Let me know if you should have any further questions and Best of Luck with All!!!!
