New to the board and question about date
Hi Everyone!I am new to the board! I just got engaged and really want to be an 09 bride. I was thinking November 2009. Do you think its possible? Also, there is a band that my fiance really wants that is only available in November on the 28th... the saturday after thanksgiving. What do you think of that date? Do you think people will care that its right after thanksgiving? Please be honest!

Re: New to the board and question about date
Welcome!! and congrats. I think the date is do-able. RH's book up fast so you will have to look around but I am sure you can find something...there are so many places out there. Any idea what RH you would like or what area? Also, I dont think anyone would mind a wedding after thanksgiving, at least I wouldnt!! I love the holidays so why not keep the party going :)

Re: New to the board and question about date
Welcome! IMO...Choose any date you want!...However, since you are thinking of a holiday weekend, sending out Save the Date's is a must in my opinion. As far as people caring if the wedding is after Thanksgiving, I think it depends on how many people you are planning on inviting to your wedding. If you plan on having a big wedding ( IMO that would be anything more than 200 guests) you may have a lot of 'NO' responses. If you are thinking of something more intimate and plan on inviting a smaller number of guests then picking this date should be fine....

Re: New to the board and question about date
Thanks!! I am just worried about that date because people sometimes get annoyed at holiday weekend weddings. But I was thinking that people usually don't go on vacation during thanksgiving.I am pretty open to locations right now. We are looking at Jericho Terrace, Woodberry Country Club, and Fox hollow this weekend because they are all in the same area. But there are so many place that I want to look at that I am somewhat overwheled!! I am pretty open to most places.

Re: New to the board and question about date
I would totally go for it. If could be to your advantage with you RH and vendors that is slow season for them. I think if was Friday I would be a little worried but by Saturday I would not worry.

Re: New to the board and question about date
I made a tentative guest list and it looks like we would be inviting about 185. I figure about 150 or less will show. I would actually like a smaller wedding but there are people we can't not invite.

Re: New to the board and question about date
First off - WELCOME!It's definitely do-able to put together a wedding for November. As far as the date being the Saturday after Thanksgiving - don't give it a second thought. I would, however, send out save the dates rather early (I still haven't done it and I'm 11/14) because it is a holiday weekend.

One year is perfect. Also, I know a lot of people get married that weekend b/c they know family and friends will be in from out of town.

Re: New to the board and question about date
I don't think the date should be a problem from a guests point of view ... i'm actually going to a wedding the day before thanksgiving !I would start looking at reception houses asap though !!!

Re: New to the board and question about date
Sometimes that can be a great day because people who have moved out of the area will be home to visit family for turkey day so I think it's a fine date. Either way, agree you should send Save the Dates out...if you have out of town guests, I'd check with local hotels to see if you can block rooms before you secure the location. I found out the hard way that the US Open was occurring my wedding weekend on Long Island and every nice hotel was sold out years in advance for it.Welcome to the boards! :)
