STD - How far in advance???
Hi! How far in advance should Save the Date cards be sent? I am getting married 7/3/04, which is a holiday weekend... Also, do you send them to everyone, or just out of town guests?

Re: STD - How far in advance???
I never did STD's but I would suggest that since it is a holiday weekend, a HUGE holiday weekend actually, I'd send it to everyone....
I think you still have time... I'd say 10-12 months before maybe?

Re: STD - How far in advance???
Thanks
I think it would be safe to send them to all (at least all that are DEFINITELY going to be invited!)

Re: STD - How far in advance???
I go married in July...and I sent the STD in December...with a holiday greeting...my family has a big 7/4 party every year, but decided not to since my wedding was a week later...so you may want to give people even a year...

Re: STD - How far in advance???
I just sent mines out - 7 months before the wed date. But I believe the timeframe is 10-12 months.

Re: STD - How far in advance???
I sent mine in October, my wedding is June 1, so that's about 8 months or so.BUT.....
I regret those *(#&$* Save the Dates! If there is one thing I could change about my planning so far, it would be to have NEVER sent them out.
We had a guest list crisis before the list went to the calligrapher. We realized we had too, too many. This was partly due to FH's procrastination on the final list until the last minute. We had to trim the list, and that meant someone who got a Save the Date will be getting a disappointing phone call instead of an invitation. We also had a change in status of my relationship with another guest, and are not inviting them. They also got a Save the Date.
Save the Dates are fun and cute, but good God, be sure you know what you're doing when you send them out......

Re: STD - How far in advance???
ITA w/kmcwed - altho I JUST sent mines out . . . FH has added more to his list (procrastination) & now I'm worried that we may have to make those disappointing phone calls too! But I already told him if we go over he is gonna have to make those calls for b.s.ing - not me! Still hoping it'll all work out somehow!

Re: STD - How far in advance???
Thanks for the heads up. I see how they could potentially cause a problemo... Although many of our close friends know our date, one of the reasons I am doing the STD's is because we are not having an e-party, and I figured I'd let everyone know the date via the STD's. I will make sure to send them to the DEFINITE invitees only! Thanks again
