Going on my Honeymoon tomorrow, any advice for the Riviera Maya?
Hi girls! Just getting last minute things in order for the honeymoon, and wondering if there is any advice, restaurants, activities that you might recommend? TIA!!!We didnt book anything b/c we were too busy planning the wedding! I figure we can figure it all out down there. We're staying at the Excellence Riviera Cancun.

I went to Excellence Playa Mujeres and it was GREAT and you can definitely figure it out when you get there. We only swam with the dolphins...I mostly just wanted to relax and destress.Enjoy.

Check out my review. I have detailed review of all the excursions at the Excellence with tons of pics. I definately recommend swimming with the dolphins and Chitchen Itza. You have to try the coconut drink on the beach. that is my FAVORITE! It's only served for 1 hour during the day though so get there early! We missed out on the rifle shooting and archery but hopefully it's available when you're there.

The only thing I can say is that when the tour guide says the bus leaves at 12:30 you better be on that bus because they DO NOT wait for you! Other than that have fun and if you meet Carlos the bartender at the outdoor bar, Cafe Kafe, tell him that Lindsey and Jimbo say hello!

Re: Going on my Honeymoon tomorrow, any advice for the Riviera Maya?
I loved Isla Mujeres...went there twice. I'm not good with the spelling on the Mayan Ruins,(Chinchen Itza?) but I suggest not doing a bus tour, but instead renting a car or taking a taxi and get there the minute it opens. The first hour is the best, the buses are not there yet, you can get a guide to walk you around or do it on your own. Tulum is not as crowded, but it gets very hot so I still suggest getting there first thing. Bring a swimsuit as well.Downtown Cancun has a park and at night there are lots of food vendors, crafts, and music, I thought it was fun. I really liked Restaurant Labla as well.
Have fun ...it's a party down there. You can take the bus around the hotel zone and into the city as well. If you like night life one of the bar hopping tours can be fun.
For what it's worth, I ate and drank pretty much everything for two weeks and never got sick. BTW, the prices in the hotel zone are much much much higher on everything,(maybe 200-300 percent) I really suggest going into downtown Cancun if you will be doing any shopping.

Thank you! This is really great and informative, and it makes me feel better about the water since I was worried about getting sick.

You're probably gone by now but just in case you check this on your HM. There is a platform to stand on on the side but the pool itself is very deep because the dolphins have to be able swim and jump in it. But tell you DH not to worry. I was 1 of 3 people who do not swim out of the group of 6. You get a life jacket and they make you watch a instruction video before you go in the water. We went with the company Delphenis. We also went to Xel-ha but since snorkling was included with that we did that instead.
