no engagement ring?
does anyone not have an engagement ring yet?? if not, why? and do you know when you are getting one?I dont have one, yet. I wanted to pick my out b/c me and my FH has totally different taste in jewelry.. so, we went ring shopping, and i pointed out a bunch that i llike, that way he will have an idea of what I want.
I think im going to get it around the holidays.. he promised me before the end of the year, and the end of the year is almost here!

haha it is pretty exciting!!! i was content with just going, picking one out, and leaving the store with it on my finger, but the FH wouldnt hear of it! he wants to do a whole formal proposal...but im a pretty simple girl, I like the princess cut, with some design on the band, and white gold

Re: no engagement ring?
We were 'unofficially' engaged for like 5 months..then I finally got my engagement ring last xmas! I hated waiting for it though. Now I still can't stop looking at it...

Re: no engagement ring?
We looked together for a long time too before I got mine. It's your best bet to give him an idea what you like if you have totally different taste. That way you KNOW you will love it. Also, many brides just wear their wedding band. So if you're not a big jewlery person you could get a really nice wedding band and forget the engagement ring. It's nice to have the e-ring thogh!

Re: no engagement ring?
I don't have one. It was a spur of the moment proposal. Don't plan on getting one. Not a big jewelry person and I know I'd end up wrecking it (I work in the construction field and I'm constantly on a saw or pulling lumber). Plus we are trying to save money.

Re: no engagement ring?
You know the funny thing is, you really should look at some rings first. Before I ever looked or tried on any rings, I always thought that I wanted a princess cut diamond. However after I started trying I realized I liked the round diamonds. The princess cut just didn't look like it belonged on my finger, if that makes any sense. I also thought (because I am not into jewlery) that I wanted a plain solitaire band, wrong again. So what I wind up with is something completely opposite what I thought I wanted. And I love it!

i could have wrote this word for word.. whether youre into jewelry or not this is something that you will have and wear for your whole life.. make sure you love it! definitely shop around to see what you like.. i thought i wanted a very thin micro pave band with an oval diamond.. until i tried it on and realized that i didnt like the way it looked on my finger. i ended up LOVING something that i absolutely HATED in the jewelry case... you never know what you will love until you se it on your finger... SHOP around.... its fun!

I was the same way...I always thought I wanted something completely different than what my ring actually looks like now. We shopped around a lot but I never expected something so different and to love it more than anything I tried on in the past! I hope you get a nice christmas present!!!

Re: no engagement ring?
We did kinda the same thing. My fiance and I have similar taste, but b/c we decided to get a large ring & I would be the one wearing it for the rest of my life he wanted to be sure it was exactly what I wanted. So we went shopping for both settings and stones together in June/July. I actually thought he was gonna propose in Oct/Nov b/c they said the setting would take 6-8 weeks to make and we hadn't decided on the stone until late July (and had picked my setting first). But he was sneaky and had them start working on the setting before we finalized our stone choice so it would be ready for our trip in August to a vineyard in Carmel
. I didn't consider myself officially engaged though until he actually proposed. That's just me though, and every couple is different. That's my story!
