How long did it take to get your driver's license with your married name?

I went to the DMV in Garden City on Friday, Nov 21st to change my name on my driver's license, title and registration. I also had to take the lien off my car, since I paid it off this summer. The DMV gave me my new registration, a new registration sticker for my windshield, a temporary paper license, and said I'd receive my new license (with my new photo--- ugh!) in the mail soon.

I'm just curious.... what constitutes 'soon'?

I received my title in the mail from Albany a few days ago, but still haven't gotten my new license yet. I can't change my name at my bank and a few other places without a new photo ID with my new name because even though they know me there for years, they need my new ID on file.

Any idea on how long this usually takes?

I got my license really quick- maybe about a week- I didnt think about it- but I am still waiting for my title and I went about 3 weeks ago

I got mine in about a week. You went the week of Thanksgiving...I'd give them up to 2 weeks max and then call.

i went to dmv on nov. 26 - a week ago - and haven't gotten my new license back yet. I went to social security on nov 25 and got that on dec 1 - talk about fast!

DMV told me 7-10 days. So CC, yours could be coming any day now.

If you don't have your title soon, follow up with them by phone. They never issued my new title despite the request/paperwork being put in. Once I spoke with someone at the DMV on the phone, they issued it and I had it within a week.

usually 7-10 business days is right for the DMV. Add into that we had a holiday last week.... so if I'd think you'd have it by the middle of next week

Thanks so much for the replies. I was wondering if it didn't get processed or got lost in the mail because when I changed my name on the title, they used my new name on the envelope and didn't type my apartment #. My mailman left the envelope sitting on the ledge near the mailboxes in the lobby. Anyone could've taken it or dumped it out!

I forgot that the following week was a short holiday week! Ok, so I'll wait a little while longer and then follow up.
