I really hate...

my job! I'm a K-5 self contained special ed. teacher in CT, after moving from LI in March, and I hate it.
The kids are my favorite but the principal is terrible. She's a BAD leader and doesn't support me one bit.
This is my first full year as a teacher and it *****. I know that your first year is supposed to suck, BUT this is terrible.
I WANT to move back home and get a job in LI or NYC but DH has a job up here. He's unhappy with his job too!

Anyone have any suggestions??? I've tried crying, exercising, drinking...everything! (My mentor hasn't even introduced herself, and when I see her in the halls all she says is HI) ***!

I'm so sorry that you're having a hard time. Have you talked to the principal and explained that you need more guidance? I know principals can be 'busy' or just don't want to deal with it but maybe if you reached out, they might be able to help. I would also try to talk to your mentor. They obviously don't know how to mentor very well but maybe they think that you are just fine and don't want any help. It's obvious to you that you need help but it's not obvious to them. I would try these things and just take it one day at a time. You will get through it.

I'm so sorry you're going through this!!

I had a terrible first year as a teacher too (I don't know ANYONE who didn't!! It's so hard your first year with so much pressure and you're never finished with your work and have to answer to so many demands!!!. I cried, exercised, did all sorts of things in the name of stress reduction too!)
I was in the city for 3 years and then I got my position in LI...my first year in LI I had a mentor who did the same thing...said hi and nothing else. So I went to her and started seeking her out instead of waiting for her to seek me out She turned out to be a huge help and so supportive. Would you try to seek your mentor out instead of waiting for her? She might not be the reaching-out type of person and/or she might be thinking that if you needed her you would go to her.
If you need to talk please FM me!!! I'm sure that what you are going through is normal first year teacher stress!!!

Thanks ladies...I took off Friday b/c it was my birthday and I have an interview on Wednesday for another school and position. I really appreciate when people can relate. It's so helpful and I know that I'll get through this, knowing you all have too.
I'm going to make some changes and hopefully June will come soon enough!

I'm sorry that you are going through this. All I can suggest is to start looking for new jobs and just keep thinking positively that right now you are learning what a BAD school environment is like so that when you are twds the end of your career and maybe in a leadership position, you will know what NOT to do!

Hang in there. Things will get better!
