What about the Country House in Stonybrook?? They have great food. It;s a little pricy, but worth it.

The Country House is awesome (myabsolute favorite restaurant!), but definately expensive. There's also Pace's Steakhouse in Port Jeff which is great, but pricey as well. There are losts of more casual places in Port Jeff, like the Village Way, or even Ground Round where you can have a nice, casual fun dinner.

We had my FMILs birthday at the Elk Street Grille and it was great - good food and a nice atmosphere.

Country House is wonderrful. Also Pasta, Pasta in Pt. Jeff -- don't know if it's still called that but I know it's still good. Marios in Setauket. You can also rent out the Neighborhood House in Setauket right by the Mill Pond.
There's another restaurant (at least there used to be -- I live in NC now so I never know whats changed) also in Old Stony Brook in the stores by the post office. (Across from Three Village Inn).

Re: rehearsal dinner place in stony brook/port jeff area?
WARNING: Pace's in Port Jeff does not do Rehearsal Dinners on Friday or Saturday nights. They also start at $47.50 a head not incl booze.
Believe me, we checked it out.

Re: rehearsal dinner place in stony brook/port jeff area?
Hey, we are having our RD at the Stony Brook Yacht club. They have a beautiful setting (right on the water) and are a little less pricey than TVI.
They are totally private (the whole yacht club thing) but anyone can hold a dinner there. Honestly, it was close and easy and on the water (what we wanted), so we just did it there. All the other suggestions sound good too. Good luck!

Re: rehearsal dinner place in stony brook/port jeff area?
I went to a Sweet 16 there years ago. (Stony Brook yach club) didn't know they allow non-members to do dinner.
It's a great location.

Re: rehearsal dinner place in stony brook/port jeff area?
I checked out a lot of these places for my rehersal dinner and also for a graduation party for my sister (aprox. 20 ppl) in May. The Printers Devil is really nice but a little expensive and they require 25 ppl (or at least for you to pay for 25). Paces - Really expensive, and, like what was said above, have many restrictions on when they'll do rehersal dinners. Marios - Reasonably priced, private room, good food - Definitely check them out. Danfords - Pretty reasonably priced - Just make sure you go see the room the dinner would be in. They told me we could have a private room for my sister's graduation dinner and it ended up being a board room with florescent lights (not attached to the restaurant) and it smelled like fish. Savinos Hideaway (in Mt Sinai) - My mom booked this place for the graduation dinner. Very reasonably priced, really good food, private room - Worth checking out. Country House - Massively expensive!! Unless you want to pay about $50/person, don't bother. I must say, though, that the place is beautiful and the food is great. Amici's (Miller Place or Mt Sinai - Right on 347/25A) - I don't think that they have a private room but they might block off one of the regular restaurant rooms for you. Reasonably priced, great food. That's all I can think of right now. If you have any questions, feel free to FM me!
