Can I wear this to a black-tie optional, Sunday night wedding in May?
I just bought this suit to wear to a christening, and I don't want to buy a new outfit for the wedding. If I dress it up with accessories (slightly sparkly earrings, higher heeled shoes) will it be ok? Please be honest!
Edited to add I would wear a silk shell, not a collared blouse.

I would get an even fancier top, then it should be okay, but I was just told, I have no fashion snse this week.I had no idea that sandels could not be worn until after easter, and white ones only after memorial day!!! I am clueless!!!

Personally, I don't feel very dressy in pants, especially if it is a black tie optional wedding. So, I would not wear a pants suit. I always wear long dresses to black tie optional weddings, but that is just me.

I agree- for a black tie optional - I think it would be more appropriate for you to wear a dress although I love the outfit. But what do I know??

I'd say a dress for a night wedding in May but if you choose to wear that, definately a dressier top & accesories

I would personally wear a dress. I think I would feel out of place in a suit for a black tie affair.

I think you should wear a dress if they say black tie optional. Even though men don't HAVE to wear tuxes, I think it still means it will be pretty fancy.

I would go with a dress. You must have something in your closet that you can wear.

Ok I don't think you HAVE to wear a dress -tahari and some other designers make formal suits, but I'm not sure the above suit would fit that description (although I love the suit). You could check out L & T's clearance outlet they very often have great formal dresses that are 20-100$. I have bought Laundry dresses in Bloomingdales for 290$ and found the dress at L & T clearance for 40$ -check them out

Re: Can I wear this to a black-tie optional, Sunday night wedding in May?
At the black tie optional events I have been to I have seen women wearing everything from ballgowns to simple little black dresses to designer pantsuits (with a sparkly shell underneath). The pants suits stick out a little, especially since most men will be wearing black suits.
