Re: Just curious - anyone using a wedding planner?

i think it varies depending on what type of services you are looking for. ex: day of, full service, etc. it also depends on the planner. it can start at $300 for day of services to $5000 for full service. the planner i was going to use (before fi cut it out of the budget ) was $2500 for almost full service (just short of her planning everything for me.) most offer packages that include many things like consultations, vendor referral, etiquette help etc.

Re: Just curious - anyone using a wedding planner?

wedding planners usually charge 10% of your budget on the premise that they will save you at least that much.

For your needs I would find one and instead of using her full services book an hour or so to bounce ideas. That will probably run you $50 - $200 depending on who/how long. There is an article on this in a magazine I have at home - FM me and I will xerox it for you!

Also, don't forget you have a site full of wedding planners here, so start asking questions and let us help!

I am having Elaine DeLuca as my Day of the Wedding Planner. So far, she's been great in keeping me on my toes....

Re: Just curious - anyone using a wedding planner?

The situation is that I just go offered a great deal on a reception place b/c they had a cancellation. The date is August 9th of this year. Otherwise I will be paying $5000 more to have my sanity and do it next year. Trying to see if it is worth the stress.....

Re: Just curious - anyone using a wedding planner?

but you don't need a full time planner

just hire one to consult for a few hours and send you on your way

plus you can get vendor names from her, drop her name and hopefully get discounts that she would have gotten....

Okay but can I REALLY plan a wedding in 4 months without losing my mind (just an fyi - it's taken me over 2 months to find a reception place)?
