ANYONE HEARD ANY UPDATE ON LUTHER VANDROSS??

He had the stroke on Wednesday and they said they did not find him until hours later, so his progress is very shakey. They had to break down the door to get to him. I really do hope he recovers completely. On 98.7 kiss they have been playing his songs and on Sunday Inspirational they prayed for his recovery. One of his close friends said he opened his eyes and moved either his left hand or his right hand. THey say that is hopeful. All we have to do is keep praying for his full recovery

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 2003--An official statement from Weill Cornell Medical College was issued this evening: "Mr. Luther Vandross suffered a stroke on April 16, 2003, and is hospitalized at the Weill Cornell Medical Center of New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He is in critical but stable condition. No further details are available at this time."

NEW YORK -- Well-wishers were hoping for a speedy recovery for Grammy-winning singer Luther Vandross, who suffered a stroke earlier this week. A spokeswoman declined to discuss the extent of his illness.

Vandross, who turns 52 on Sunday, was resting comfortably in a New York hospital after suffering the stroke Wednesday at his Manhattan home, said Lois Najarian, a spokeswoman at his record label, J Records.

Najarian declined to discuss whether the R&B singer's motor skills had been impaired or the extent of the stroke. She also declined to name the hospital where Vandross was being treated.

A statement from his management said family and friends were hopeful for a speedy recovery. A source close to the singer described the stroke as serious, but said Vandross was conscious.

Najarian said the singer had been in good health and recently completed work on a new album.

Vandross, who has suffered from hypertension and diabetes, has long battled weight problems. At one point, he weighed more than 330 pounds.

"Rumors about my health always surface," he told The Associated Press in 2001, "because people see the weight fluctuations."

Vandross said in the interview that since he had lost weight through diet and exercise. However, he recently gained weight again.

Vandross, whose deep silky voice has anchored romantic hits such as "Here and Now," "A House Is Not a Home" and "Any Love," has sold about 20 million albums in the United States.

Vandross won four Grammy Awards in the 1990s. His new album, "Dance With My Father," was scheduled for a June 10 release.

He has touched many lives, as they would say, many a babies have been made to his music. Our first dance song was by him. Here and Now. Imagine his family, I am only a fan.

I don't care who.... everyone knows a Luther song..... knows what his voice is about & knows how full of heart & soul that man is...... it's so sad.......

Its sad. I hope all works out. I found out today that my dad's best friend (they have been friends for almost 50 years. They lived across the street from each other) mother had a stroke and passed away.

I hope he gets better
