TEACHERS: Lesson Plan Ideas ?

Im doing Unit on the Solar System. (for my grad class) I need lesson plan/activity ideas for:

The Sun
The Moon
The stars/constellations & galaxies.

For third grade. Nothing too long. These are for 40 minute lessons.

Any ideas would be great..

I teach kindergarten and firsst grade sped., so I don't know how great I'd be at giving you a lesson idea, but try to search google for lesson plans. The internet has such great sites for teachers. It just takes a little bit of patients.

I did a lesson on the solar system (actually a unit for technology) How about this....(I observed this)

The point of the lesson was to show how far apart each of the planets were from each other.

You need a roll of toilet paper, and cutout of the planets and sun. When I observed it the teacher had three and got two other aids to help in this. Each group went to a different part of the school with their TP.

You need a worksheet telling how many sheets of TP go between each planet. (ex. 3 between earth and mars and 300 between neptune and pluto) That is why you need A LOT of room.

You start with the sun and then lace each planet where the worksheet tells you to.

It was really a great lesson and it actually taught ME something. It was amazing to see how close some planets are to each other and how far away others are.

This sounds confusing but FM with any question!
