Can someone set me straight?

Ok, I have not gone to look for dresses yet because I have two years and my mother keeps telling me that A. the styles will change and B. I need to lose all the weight before I go. I am like a size 14 and I want to get to a 10, is it impossible to try on samples without being thiny thin thin? And is it too early to look? Just wondering. Thanks!

Re: Can someone set me straight?

You can look at any time, even if you plan on losing weight. You might find certain styles that you like, don't like, colors (ivory, white) you like better on you. It's never too early to look. Once you feel you are ready to buy, then reevaluate where you stand with what you want to be on your wedding day. But remember, tailors can do wonderful things with dresses. They can go from a size 14 to a size 10 without a problem. So go look, enjoy yourself, be happy!

Wait, but don't they only stock samples in like a 12 or a 6? How am I supposed to try them on if I can't get in them? I'm so confused! I really have a lot to learn.

You will put the dresses on but they won't close all the way! You can still get and idea of what you want to look for. I agree with your Mom that styles do change and also you may be ble to wear a different style of dress once you lose more weight! But you can still have fun trying them on

Thank you! Yeah. I agree with the style thing. I just wasn't sure about the whole sizing thing. Eh, I'm not ready to try them on yet anyway. I am afraid I might fall in love with one and then it will end up not being what I want two years from now. Thanks again though!!

Maybe now you can just get a sense of fabrics you like and salons you like dealing with. I'm in the process of losing weight too, and I am going to wait a bit longer before I make any decisions on style since I may prefer something else when I'm thinner.

I would wait because it is still early to pick out a dress. You will still be losing weight and you may change your mind or the styles may change.

Re: Can someone set me straight?

I would go to Davids Bridal where you can try on the actual size you need just to get an idea of what looks good and what you like and who knows you may find something you love there. My friend just got her dress there and my Future sister in law got hers there as well. My FSIL was going just to get a feel for the dresses b/c she couldnt et into the samples either and ended up buying her dress. Good Luck

If you have 2 years to go - I would wait another 6 months, at least. Then you can try and lose some wait and the styles will be similar to the year you will get married. you will also have a better view of yourself by that time too.
