Pre ceremony pics
I was wondering what everyone felt about taking pixs before the ceremony? including the groom- Has anyone done this or know of anyone?- did it take away from the ceremony?

Re: Pre ceremony pics
We're doing this. We're getting married at the hall, so there's no time after the ceremony for pics, unless we miss our entire cocktail hour, and we don't want to do that.
So we're meeting a few hours prior to the ceremony (with our parents and bridal party), and having all the pics done then. Our videographer is going to set up our first meeting and film it. It should be very nice.
I've heard other brides say that seeing their FH before the ceremony broke the ice and they were less nervous about walking down the aisle.

Re: Pre ceremony pics
We're doing this as well. We want to be at the cocktail hour and be able to mingle with the guests. I have heard of couples who have done this and usually the photographer and videographer are there when you first see each other (before the ceremony for pictures) to capture the "moment." I have also heard grooms say that seeing the bride before the ceremony doesn't take anything away from the "moment" that he sees the bride walking down the aisle. I hope this makes some sense to you.

Re: Pre ceremony pics
Our ceremony will be held in the same place as the reception too. It just makes sense for us to do it that way. Our photographer will be there as well. I don't think it will take anything away from seeing each other for the first time.

Re: Pre ceremony pics
We are also doing this since we are getting married at our hall. At first I wasn't too happy about the idea but now I am glad we are doing it. I think I will be more relaxed knowing that I get to see him before I have to walk down the aisle with all those people staring at me. I have spoken to some people who took pictures beforehand and they were glad they did it that way. You will have more time to enjoy your day and each other.
Also if you still want the moment when he sees you on film the photographer/videographer are used to doing this and will set up a private moment for the two of you.

Re: Pre ceremony pics
same here- pics before the ceremony. saves time, allows us to spend some time with the BP before all the festivities begin, & i absolutely must see FH before i walk down the aisle- i'll be too nervous otherwise!

Re: Pre ceremony pics
I figured since you're paying so much money for the cocktail hour and reception, you should be there to enjoy it. Also, Spel made a very good point about seeing FI before the ceremony - you'll be less nervous walking down the aisle.

Re: Pre ceremony pics
Nope. We did not do this because we're following the tradition of not seeing the bride and groom before the ceremony for bad luck. We took pictures at our reception venue before our cocktail hour. I was more relaxed after the ceremony.

Re: Pre ceremony pics
I'm not. I don't want FH to see me until I am walking down the aisle. He agrees.

We are taking pics before also. Our ceremony is at the hall, so it will be easier this way.

Re: Pre ceremony pics
We've decided to take pics beforehand as well - our ceremony is at the reception site. Our photographer is setting up 'our first' moment as well. We wanted to enjoy our cocktail hour - and we wanted our wedding party & family to enjoy it too.
