no cash back at bbb

fh & i went to bbb today to return some items i got at my bridal shower yesterday and they flat out refused to give us cash back. we argued that the woman who i registered with said that we could get cash back and they still wouldn't give in. they said that the policy changed a year & a half ago and that the best they could do was give us credit. we argued with her for quite a bit and she just kept refusing... this was the bbb near smithhaven mall. just wanted to warn you all!

I think that they only give cash back when its less than $10, otherwise they put on GC for you. Ive never cared b/c Im ALWAYS shopping at BBB for myself or others

i recently...like 3 weeks ago...got cash back at BBB and i was very surprised. the cashier said as long as you have a receipt with your registry # on it...doesnt have to be for the item you are returning they can give you cash back. this was at the BBB in manhasset

so weird... they gave us such a hard time and just flat out refused. i mean either way we were going to be spending money at bbb but we preferred the cash back because we could use the extra money for other things.

I just got cash back for a return last week...I have never had this happen to me but it has been posted a few time here. Is it store specific??

Some stores are better about giving cash back than others. The one that I go to in West Babylon on Montauk Highway automatically hands us cash without even offering us a gift card and they're very friendly there.

my shower was a week and a half ago, I have returned items for cash 3x since then no problems at all. Both Plainview and Westbury stores. Just said "cash please" and that was it!

Company policy is to give cash back. They will try to give you a gift card but once you insist on cash it should be given to you.

Next time try another store. Seems this is happening at some stores and not others.

easy fix: get the credit on a gift card, sell it on ebay for probably 80-90% of what its worth

wow... that's so crazy that some stores do it and others dont. we went to the lake grove one, right near smithhaven mall and even after we put up a fight, she still just refused!

I got cash back for a toaster at the one in Plainview, without even asking for it. Was totally expecting to get a gift card!

I think its by store. I have been to two different ones in queens - one in the last two weeks and we got cash back with no issues whatsoever.

FH and I just went to BBB in Westbury last night and they gave us over $200.00 back in cash.

You didn't mention if you had a gift reciept - I'm pretty sure you get the cash back if you have a gift reciept only. No reciept = store credit only.

The Westbury store will def give you cash back. BUT the items must have been purchased off of your registry. Otherwise, you just get store credit.

You 100% should be able to get cash back. I spoke to a manager about this while I was registering at the Westbury store. He told me that a lot of the stores are going to tell customers that they can't get cash back even though they can. He said that they have no more competition since linens n'things and fortunoff's is now closed. He said stores are gonna make it tough on clients but eventually you'll get your $ back.

I think it depends on the BBB you go to. I went to one in Newburgh, NY and I got cash back for my items and I did my return last month. HTH

My friend goes to the one in Manhasset & they gave her cashback!
