Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

Our ceremony is at 11:30 and our receptions ends at 5. Did you any of you girls who had early afternoon receptions regret it?

Re: Girls who has early afternoon weddings/reception

my ceremony was at 11 reception went until 5.

I dont regret it really. The day was beautiful and we were able to enjoy the whole day and the weather and the view. We still had a lot of fun and all went bowling afterwards, i wish more poeple had come bowling but it was a sunday night so lots went home.

If i had to do it over though i personally would have a night wedding. We started at 4am with hair was still late to the ceremony and didnt get half of the pictures done that i wanted to. the whole morning was so rushed i didnt even do my toenails! so.. i regret not having more time in the morning to get ready and take pictures. I regret the way we did the timeline it just wasnt realistic and missed out on a lot but pics were so important to me. I havent yet seen my proofs so i may change my mind when i see how they came out. right now i just feel that i didnt get what i could have had if i had a night wedding

afternoon weddings have thier pros and cons though.

No not at all, we loved the fact that we were able to go out to a nice restaurant later on that night and just relax at home.

I dont really regret it. I obviously would have rather have had a night wedding only because then I wouldnt have had to get up at 4:00am but other then that the day was amazing!

Re: Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

No.... not at all. At first I was sooooo upset. Cried about it & had nightmares.. but the place gave us everything we would of had to pay extra for plus more at an excellent price for having it during the day... and I sooooooo dont regret it. It was wonderful... I had lighting and my DJ set it up really nice... the room was not overly bright... alot of my out of towners were happy they could drive back at a decent hr.... my ceremony was on site and started at 12:30 and everything ended up 6. It was wonderful... it was a great back for us to cut back cost. After we went back to the hotel and partied with a few ppl that night. I loved it ( pics in album ) :) Good Luck

Re: Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

I was really happy with our afternoon wedding! We got up at 6 (not 4 like some other girls, but I had a small wedding party) and I'm an early morning person anyway! We had a lot of fun getting ready and it was great serving mini muffins and coffee to our guests as they came in at 11:30!

By the time cocktail hour rolled around, everyone was ready to eat, and since it was mid-day, people were able to eat all day, which was a big part of our wedding (since we did a buffet meal and OMG the food was amazing!).

Then we were done at 5:30 and went back to the hotel with everyone and met up again at 7:30 and spent the next few hours just gathered in the lobby with all our OOT guests and family and friends -- about 40 people, a third of our wedding! -- and had such a fun time just gossipping and chatting and hanging out. It made for a really awesome, fun, social day that seemed to go on forever!

Re: Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

Nope because we didn't have a honeymoon right after and it gave us more time together after we were married. We ended up getting 2 1/2 days together on a minimoon rather than 2. Plus, we were concerned about all of the older people driving back a long drive after the reception.

Re: Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

I may get in trouble for posting right now since I am on my honeymoon and should not be on LIW but I felt like you many a time before the wedding, For me it boiled down to wanting my RH and not being able to meet the nighttime minimum. So I booked for an afternoon wedding with hesitation. Yes I had to wake up early, yes it was slightly sunny in my room but I swear to you people behaved the way they would at any wedding! Actually, you'll probably get more people out on the dance floor since the older people arent exhausted.

We had an afterparty at our house after the wedding. We partied but I was still very well rested to leave at 6:00am for my honeymoon. Please dont feel like youre doing the wrong thing or cheaping out or making people feel awkward by having an afternoon wedding. Coming from a bride still riding the high from my wedding only 3 days and 6 hours ago, it was awesome and I would not change a thing!

Totally agree!! I'm a night person, but we deliberately chose a day wedding because our wedding was on the water and we wanted ppl to see it

Re: Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

I always wanted a night wedding. And if I could do it over and could afford it, I would have had a night wedding. But I didn't even think about the fact that it was daytime at all during the wedding. When I left the wedding, I was shocked at how bright it was outside. I don't think I regret it. I loved the day!

Re: Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

thanks girls I've been having a tough time with this. I'm really not a morning person, so I cant even envision myself enjoying getting ready and taking pictures.
For us right now its a cost issue...

why cant i win the lotto?

Re: Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

I always wanted a night wedding. We knew we couldn't afford a Saturday night, so we looked at Friday night. We also looked at a Sunday day ceremony and reception. The ceremony would have been at 11 am, ch from 11:30-12:30 then a 4 hour reception. In the end I did what I knew in my heart would make me happy, which was a night wedding. It really has to do with what you know will make you happy. If you already have reasons why you wouldn't be happy with a day wedding, I would take those considerations seriously. We would have saved more with the Sunday daytime wedding, but in the end it was too much of a compromise for me. Good luck!

Re: Girls who had early afternoon wedding/reception

My wedding started at 12:30 well actually 1 p.m. b/c I was late and ended at 6:00 p.m. I wish I could have had a night wedding but NO I don't regret the day wedding. .The whole day went by too fast and at one point I wish I could have extended it but no regrets.

You have to do what is financially feasible for you. Good Luck!
