The Woman I Donated My Dress To......

wrote to me last night and is frantic, in need of help. This is the girl that lost every last wedding item she had in a fire and was going to cancel her wedding. I know you ladies were asking if there was anything else she needed and we are there....SO...shes asking for BM dresses, or any GM tuxes or suits. Im going to paste in exactly what she wrote to me...it'll be easier that way...

Hi Amber,
Just a shot in the dark here...Ive been searching for bridesmaids gowns for myself and 2 other girls without any luck. I was just wondering if you may know anyone that might have any bridesmaids/evening gowns/prom gowns that they no longer want and would like to get rid of? Im looking for sizes (1)18/20, (1)22, and (1)24. Ive been all over clarion, oil city, franklin, brookville...well just to say ive been all over and cant find 1 dress. Maybe because of the season change. You already know my situation with the whole money issue and since the wedding is right around the corner its really tight now. So if you know anyone that would like to donate any dresses please let me know. Colors can vary (NOT BLACK)...would like them to be floor length dresses. Also if you know of anyone with a cpl tux's or nice black dress suits let me know. If not, no problem...Im grasping for anything right now.

Thanks alot for everything you have already done for us! you have been the biggest godsend to us...I could never be getting married if it werent for you. I had the biggest hole in my heart, and you filled it. Your an amazing person. You changed my life...my wedding day!

So if anybody has anything we can work with, please let me know. Im waiting to hear back on sizes for dress shirts or anything, and also a mailing address. We live in PA, so if anyones donates anything it'll have to be mailed. Her wedding in November 15th...so it really is right around the corner!! Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!!!!!!

Re: The Woman I Donated My Dress To......

My old BM dress would be to small. To bad. I probably could have gotten another girl from the same wedding to donate. Post this on the newlywed board too, some 08ers might be able to help.

Yup! I just wore it two weeks ago for my best friends wedding.

ETA: It has been altered. I had the hem taken up because I am 5'4' and the straps were taken up because I have no chest...lolol. But it is all hers if she wants it. I will also look at my dad's for the navy blue dress.

Re: The Woman I Donated My Dress To......

I have a size 18 BM dress from Davids that was altered to like an in between 16-18. (Was supposed to be made into a 16 but was still too large.) I'll totally send it over. There is a small stain at the very bottom from walking but I'm sure it would be fine with a dry cleaning. DB doesn't have the dress on their website anymore but it's a satin strapless a-line floor length dress. Plain with just a little rouching in the bust area. It's a very light green, DB color honeydew. Let me know if she's interested, I'd love to help!

Re: The Woman I Donated My Dress To......

I also have a DB dress in Apple (red)

I don't remember the style but it's the one with the S shaped brooch at the waist.

I think it's a size 20, altered slightly at the bust to lay flush to my skin and the length was untouched. I'm 5'6'' and wore 3 inch heels.

If this helps, let me know, It's just sitting in my closet, needs to be cleaned.

Wish I had more to offer!

ETA:photo

ETA: Also, you should def cross post this if you haven't already. I'm taking the liberyt ot linkt this to the 2011 board right now..

I'm sure with the amount of girls ont his board it has to be that there are 3 or 4 of us who have dresses that will fit her sizes and coordinate in color. So many of us have been in bridal parties and have friends with dresses....

I hope she has a fantastic day. I can't get this poor girl out of my head now. Give her my best!
