Re: DMV question

I agree just renew it when you are there.

You can renew your license up to one month before your b-day. So if you go June 3 to DMV to change your name, just renew it while you are there.

No matter what you have to take a new picture

Re: DMV question

Sorry, but yeah, you have to go there. Here's a link to the DMV site with name change information.

Re: DMV question

Yep, you have to go - can't do it through the mail for a name change. You can renew by mail if you aren't changing your name. I renewed mine last year a month before it expired. I went through an experience to say the least. Just make sure you have all your paperwork first. And DMV won't let you take your maiden name as your middle name. On my license I had to drop my middle initial and then all went smoothly.

Re: DMV question

yep - you have to do the name change in person - it stinks. They asked me if I wanted to renew (my permit - lol) at that time as well. Don't go in the city - I took me like 3 hours (although many of my friends said it went quick for them !!!!!!!!!!)

Re: DMV question

Yes, you have to go there. Make sure you have all your paper work...license, marriage certificate, registration and title of your car (if it's in your name).

Re: DMV question

Jen, no can do by mail because you have to show them proof that you got married -- bring them the original marriage license, they don't want a copy (I had to go back twice because I was given misinformation). I went to the one in College Point and my advice to you if you go there, is to get there early and make sure you have everything you need because I had a hard time! And if you're changing your registration as well, you need your to change your title too!
