Photography Quotes

Hi Girls,
I know I have been on hiatus forever- I've been soooo busy with work & everything I have kinda taken a 2 month break from doing too much with the wedding planning. Well- now I'm back. I have 4 appointments with photographers over the next 2 weeks. I was given a quote as low as $5,200 and as high as $7,800. Have any of you looked at photography yet? If you don't mind sharing some of your quotes so I can get a feel for where I stand it would be a HUGE help!

Our package was $3800 with Duet- it includes 10.5 hours of coverage with two photogs (one traditional and one photojournalistic), unlimited photos, 500 prints + a few enlargements, a CD with finished and unfinished photos, rights to the photos, 2 parents albums with 30 photos, 1 album for us with 40 pages. I think that's it! They're VERY reasonable, definitely check out Duet!

Sorry I dont have a quote for you, it just seems to me that Duet gives you a lot and their prices seems pretty good.

You are spending too much on photography. If you can get it under $4 or $5,000 you should be ok. I would only spend mpore than $5K on photography if the package was provided by a MAJOR AWARD winning photographer (ie someone who routinely works for or with celebrities) and you were looking to get 1000 of pictures, more than 4 albums (all over 12X12) and various extras like 200 thank you cards, etc...

I booked my photographer (its on my profile) based on price. I get everything for around $3K. My video is only 1K.

I did get cheaper quotes from J'Adore Photo, it was sometihng like $2K for the whole thing...

you just have to shop around and see what they give you..But never be afraid to negotiate!!

So far I've made appointments to meet with Duet, Thomas Paul, Imagine, and 12th Night... I guess we'll see how it goes from there.
Thanks for the advice girls, I feel like I'm going into this photographer thing blind because I've never dealt with a photographer and I don't know whats a good price, what to look for, ect. And at the end of that cute little countdown box, all these things add up big time $$$$!

And, I have to tell you I did a lot of research of photographers and I love mine! You will find a perfect photographer just keep looking.

** this is straight off my contract - but when i met with him he said 80-85 images in album - so im gonna change it to that

he is excellent! I have spoken to him many times already and he is very personable and helpful - always answering all my questions!

Well we liked both Duet & Thomas Paul- Thomas Paul was a little bit more $$ but I felt like we got SOOO much more with him. I'm still worried that it's pushing the limit of our tight budget a little bit. I still have not seen 12th night & I had to cancel with Imagine... This is really stressing me out. I feel like after the day is done, the one thing you have to physically look back on your big day is the result of the photographer. And let me tell you... I am not very good at making decisions in the first place

hey..we went with PATKEN...photo and video was 4300. I don't have the contract with me now, but I think we got a great deal especially since Patken is amazing!!! (judging by the reviews)

12th night has packages or an a la carte menu which was great

As for Patken their work is great..I just wasn't thrilled when I found out you have to wait 6 months or so for the rights to your pics...Otherwise their work is great

Bret Mathews -- I heard some so so reviews BUT when I went to the studio I was so impressed by their work and the different options!!! Def check them out!
