Need Opinions . . . Is FH 'allowed' to see my dress?

Help please!
Ack! This is not good. . . Was just watching Say Yes to the Dress with FH (who is very opinionated) and a girl was trying on a dress very similar to mine. Not the same exact dress per say, a few things were different, but overall very similar 'feel' to it. What does he blurt out?

'Oh my god. That dress is HORRIBLE. She looks like an old lady!'

Now I don't know what to do. As soon as he said it I told him 'Wow, that's great. My dress looks almost exactly like that.' I already ordered my dress, paid 50% of it back in August. I REALLY want to show him a pic of my actual dress (on a model, I don't even have any pics of me in the dress) but he's worried that it's 'bad luck' (he is very superstitious and comes from a family that wouldn't even let us get married on a Friday due to a long held superstition). How can I wear a dress on my wedding day now that all I'm going to be thinking is 'He thinks I look like an old lady in this'? I would post a pic of the dress, but he forbids me to post it online from day 1.

i honestly don't think he is going to remember this say yes to the dress episode on the day of your wedding. i think he is gonna be floored with every emotion in the book when he sees you walk down the aisle. i would not get upset or show him the dress.

i don't think you should show him. i think that how a dress looks varies from person to person and i doubt that he will think you look horrible on your wedding day. i am sure you will look gorgeous!

it probably had a lot to do with the girl and not the dress, im sure you won't look like an old lady in it!... i dont really believe in the dont show him superstition so if it will make you feel better, then by all means show him... i dont think it will impact the effect of when he sees you walking down the aisle in the dress anyway

Thanks so much, I feel a little better now! I guess it doesn't help that I went with a dress that was nothing like what I had been leaning towards in magazines. I tried the dress on on a whim and wound up liking to my surprise. I can't decide whether to show him or not. I don't really care if he knows what it looks like (especially now) but I know he didn't want to see it. I really appreciate your input, I don't know where I'd go without the LIW girls!

Forget what he said. Once he sees YOU (not some girl on say yes to the dress) walking down the aisle, you won't believe how quickly he'll change his mind. You're going to be beautiful and that's that!!!

I personally wouldn't show it to him, but it's up to you and what you feel is best.

i definitely don't think it matters either way, but i feel like if he really doesn't want to see the dress, you probably shouldn't force him too...i'm SURE that he felt like the dress didn't look good on that particular woman, but you're the one he CHOSE!!...so that's different

This makes me feel so much better. I have been showing FH pics of all the dresses I love and not sure I will be able to stop myself from telling him the one i pick

I def. would not show him. It ruins the whole excitement of him seeing you in your dress.

My FH did pretty much the same thing. We were watching a few of the wedding shows and he didnt like the ones I like and vica versea. Then there was one alot like mine and he said yuk! I was debatting on show him my dress and I decided not too. Bucause I know once he sees it on me He will love it

Mine keeps saying how much he hates pleating on a dress. I was in the same situation as u, a very very similar dress came on and he started laughing at it and saying how horrible these pleats and pick up were. I thought I'm gonna die! But I told myself that I don't care what he thinks, its my dress and I should love what I am wearing. He will love it when he sees the entire thing with hair and make up and how .

I am sure he will feel quite differently when it is YOU in the dress and not some random woman.

Besides...you have to realize he will be seeing the whole package...the hair, the makeup, the jewelry..I am sure you will look stunning!

IT REALLY depends on the person.

I have seen some of you post pics of you in the dress and the model and some of you look better than the modeL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once your FH see's you in your dress on your wedding day, he is not going to remember anything he said and he is going to love you in your dress. As long as you love your dress and you feel confident in your choice, don't second guess it, everything will be fine.

I watch say yes to the dress with FH all the time, so he is always asking me things about my dress now and he will also say things like you better not have something like that, I just pay him no mind and don't let it bother me
