invitation wording dilemma

i have to finalize my invitiation wording this weekend. here's the issue: my dad is paying for about 1/3 while me and fh are paying for the rest. fh's parents told us they would give us $$ but as things have become due we haven't seen a penny. when i confronted fh he was vague and from what i could gather they would be giving us $$ AFTER the wedding. my gut feeling is to go with traditional wording with the brides parents hosting. i really don't want to piss off fh's parents but i don't want to give them credit on the invitation. clearly i need to talk to fh about this but i was wondering if 1) has anyone else come across this issue and 2) what would you do?

Re: invitation wording dilemma

We had a similar problem. I wanted the traditional wording as my parents hosting (they're paying for half of the venue). FH thought his mom would be a little insulted. So after many arguements we decided to just have our names first and then add together with their parents invite you.

In your case, I don't think FH parents have a right to be insulted, they're not paying for the wedding. The money you will recieve will be a gift, not something to help pay for the wedding. Good luck!!!

ITA....

if they are still going to be sticklers about having their names 'appear' on the invite, maybe you can do 'Mr. & Mrs. Bride's Parents request...at the marriage of their daughter, Brides name, to Grooms name, son of Mr. & Mrs. Groom's parents'

that way it has YOUR parents as the ones hosting, but his parents names appear

Re: invitation wording dilemma

yeah...my FH's parents insisted on being listed as hosts on the invitation even though they're paying for NOTHING including the rehearsal dinner, tuxes, honeymoon, etc. (the stuff the groom's family normally pays for). we didn't feel like dealing with it, so we just agreed. it wasn't worth having a fight over, and everyone my parents are inviting know who the real hosts are.

Re: invitation wording dilemma

This is a different perspective, but my parents are paying for the entire wedding and are actually insisting that we put both sets of parents on the top of the invitation. A few friends have gotten married recently and they did the same thing.
