Mother of the Bride Gowns...When to look?
My wedding is in OCT. and my mom hasn't started looking yet...it never occurred to me that it had to be done so soon...when do you typically buy the MOB dress?

Re: Mother of the Bride Gowns...When to look?
I think it generally depends on where you are planning to buy the dress and whether it is a normal MOB dress or if it a nice formal dress from say Saks, Nordstroms etc. If she gets in a jam and can't find anything she can always go to one of the upscale department stores and buy right away - My mom thinks most of the MOB dresses are rather doudy and makes her feel really old. So she is going to the salons in saks, bendells instead - it is also a much quicker option

Re: Mother of the Bride Gowns...When to look?
My mom bought her gown for my October wedding the same day she bought my the gown for my brother's August wedding ---> in July. With only a month before the wedding, my mom was able to get her dress with no problem and from a bridal store too. I wouldn't recommend one month (esp. if your mom is pciky like my mommy) but 3-6 months is usually fine.

ASAP. My mom was so picky and drove nuts for a short while... Luckily she found a dress about 3 months before, but it cost me a few nerve cells

Re: Mother of the Bride Gowns...When to look?
Hi, my mother is also my matron of honor, after shopping at L & T, Bloom's Nordstam, Sugar Plum and others, she found one a Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. We just ordered it two weeks ago and they said it would take 12-16 weeks to come in. They have a nice selection and the prices are reasonable.

Re: Mother of the Bride Gowns...When to look?
My mother is the MOB for my sisters Oct 5th wedding this year. She just purchased her dress this past weekend. She has to get some alterations done and then have it pressed.... She was so excited to have done with, because soon enough we will be busy planning her shower. 5 months to Go

Re: Mother of the Bride Gowns...When to look?
Can anyone recommend a place for MOB dress that is not too expensive? My mom does not want to spend more than $500, and I dont want to waste time in these stores if they are going to cost $3000 for the cheapest dress. Thanks!

You can try 'Totally Yours' store. It's in Bellmore on Merrick Avenue. MY mom looked there, they carry bridesmaids, prom, dressy dresses. For Mob they can start as low as 200 and up. It 's very reasonable.Welcome New Vendors
