Went to a wedding last night at the Hamlet in Commack

We went to a 5PM wedding ceremony and reception there last night.

First off, I just wantt o say that the flowers were by Bayport Flower house and they were GORGEOUS!! Huge bunches of pink and white peonies and a smaller purple flower for the centerpieces and the ceremony aisle.

The cocktail hour was held outside, on the terrace outside the main dining room. The smaller room with bar was also available for the cocktail hour, but almost everyone was outside b/c it was such a beautiful day.

There was a sushi bar during the cocktail hour and it was delicious. Very fresh, very tasty. I didn't have other hors d'oeuvres but other guests were raving about them.

The food was all in all excellent. I had the Chilean sea bass for an entree and it was EXCELLENT! If you are getting married at the Hamlet I recommend offering the sea bass as a choice for your guests. A few other people at my table tasted it and they all loved it.

The only not-so-great part was the cake. It tasted slightly stale. I don't know if the couple brought in a cake from an outside vendor though, so it could have nothing to do with the Hamlet.

There was also a cordial bar which looked awesome, but unfortunately only a few people used it. I think we were all so tired from dancing and full from dinner, cake, ice cream, brownies and coffee.

The staff was excellent. We did tip our waiter though (over and over) so maybe that was why he was so attentive. But really all the staff seemed friendly and accomodating.

Thanks so much for the review. I'm getting married there in Oct and I don't personally know anyone who has been to a wedding there. Very reassuring to know it was good. Any more details to share??
