Does this sound right to you...(I need tipping info -- not sure who tip & how much???)
Don’t tip the officiant. The person who performs your wedding ceremony is probably a professional who performs weddings as a part of their vocation. If he or she is also religious leader, they are spiritually called to participate in your wedding. To tip them is to trivialize their professionalism and their faith. Most officiants rightfully ask a fee for their services, and that fee must be paid. If you wish to make an additional financial contribution, you can include a separate contribution to the institution itself. You don’t have to tip a makeup artist or hairdresser, if they come to you. If you go into a salon for service, you should tip as you normally would for services. However, if you hire a makeup artist or hairdresser to come to your home or hotel before the wedding, they are probably charging you a larger fee than normal. In that case, you do not need to tip them, just like you don’t need to tip your florist, cake baker, etc. Rather, show your gratitude to these professionals with a note of thanks, or, if you wish, a small gift after the fact.
You don’t need to tip reception waiters, waitresses, and table captains directly. As we’ll detail below, you’ll be giving a single large tip to the maitre d’, banquet manager or caterer. They will distribute the tip among their staff.

I didn't tip my hairdresser because I paid her a lot of money to come to my house and do my hair and my BMs. I tipped the makeup girl about $20 for doing my makeup and my FMIL had her makeup done so she tipped her as well.We tipped the Maitre'd.We didn't tip each individual waiter.

Really no tip for the hairdresser if they come to you...I thought for sure they were suppose to get a tip. Anyone else not tip the hairdresser or officiant...what about the DJ, and do I tip the florist for each delivery...he's dropping flowers off at three different locations? Thanks for all your help.

Re: Does this sound right to you...(I need tipping info -- not sure who tip & how much???)
We didnt tip the officiant. We tipped the flower delivery people when they dropped the personal flowers off at my mothers. They also had to go to the ceremony/reception site to set up before anyone else was there so we wanted to make sure they were covered.
A friend did our hair at my mother's house (3 of us) she asked for a ridiculously low amount of money so I added to that but it's not the norm.
I wouldn't tip someone charging an arm and a leg to come to me. They are getting all that money same as if they were the owner of a company. But if you go to a salon to get your hair done, I would have tipped since the salon gets a cut and the stylist is working on salary or commission or however it works.

I think you can tip the florist like $20 or $25 .I didn't tip my hairdresser because she charged me a ton of money to do our hair so believe me,she made out big time.

Re: Does this sound right to you...(I need tipping info -- not sure who tip & how much???)
If a hairstylist comes to your house through a salon usually the stylist only gets a cut of that money. If the hair stylist comes to the house on her own time, than she should be charging less. So than she should be getting gratuity. If it is on a Sunday or on a holiday when most salons are closed or if there is at least a half hour travel time I personally think that a tip is in order. (just my opion)Prices should all be worked out way before the day of the wedding and a contract should be made.
Also depending on the amount of work and time that was put into the hair/makeup should also determine if a tip is in order. Hope that helps

If someone is working for another person then a tip is considered customary. I tipped our private waitress at the reception. I didn't tip the hair person because he was working for himself and came to me. I did tip the makeup person because she did me a huge favor and went to the hotel after my home to do MIL's makeup.

This is who we decided on tipping...Maitre'D
Table Captain (Hall just added this person....I have no idea what they do but the BM said they get a tip)
Bridal Assistant
Photographer
DJ
String Trio
Hairdresser (I'm going to the salon)
Makeup Artist (coming to me)
We will have extra money on us if we need to tip a delivery person for the florist. I don't think we need this though because our florist is coming herself.
